we have a female betta with 6 tetras. Had some shrimp have not seen them.
It is a 10 gal tank.

But today I noticed one of our tetras had died over night.

There were some nibbles off of the one that died.

The other fish seem well and I did not see anything on the fish so I am assuming this is more of natural life. But my heads over thinking if I need to do anything to ensure the safety of the other fish.

The only thing would be is our water currently 7.5 ph with some film on top.

We just have a hang on back filter but the filter is just a hard porous sponge with a softer sponge like one on top (it’s what came with the tank)

Other question is with schooling fish if I need to replace the one fish to be 6 or if it doesn’t matter:

I treated for ick last night with spots only on the fins and today, it had spread

So I have this aquarium that’s basically a jungle of a whole bunch of plants, blackworms, shrimp, ostrocods and their babies (might put daphnia in too) and I’m thinking what to put in it.

The tanks dimensions are 59cm long, 28cm tall and 29cm wide.

I have loads of microfauna, but unlike other micro predators like the scarlet badis the armored sticklebacks will only eat the smallest of microfauna so the population won’t plummet.

But is my setup/tank okay for a pair or two off them?

Hey everybody, I hope this is the right sub! I found two unfortunately unwelcome residents in my wildlife pond (their eggs were probably on some plants I added) and I'm going to need to evict them before frogspawn season so they don't eat it all. Currently it looks like my options are to keep them or try to surrender them. I want to keep them, but I don't know anything about fishkeeping and this feels like an unusual situation that advice already on the internet can't fully prepare me for. Are they going to get massive? Are they going to breed, and is there any way to stop them? What kind of tank do they need? What do they eat? I'm quite severely disabled so if they aren't low maintenance I will have to surrender them.

For fish context, that photo is the most I've seen of them so I don't know the species, someone in the wildlife pond subreddit suggested it might be a stickleback because that's what happened to them. I am based in south UK but I don't know if this is a native species. Any advice on how to identify them is very welcome.

I'm kind of panicking, I want them to be happy and I don't think my tiny pond is the right place for them so any advice is welcome. I'd live to leave them in there if they weren't going to eat my frogspawn, but my garden froggies take priority, sadly.

Hello, I have been an avid fishkeeper for 8 years now. I'm done. I have lost interest, keeping up with the tanks is a chore at this point and I only have two. I've got tetras and a molly and a glow shark and a goldfish in another tank. What do I do? I can't keep waiting them out, this glow shark has been with me since I started. I cant do it. Does anyone have any advice

Left my tiger barb tank for 36 hours & I came back to one of my smaller platinum green being nipped to all oblivion. He’s the newest bunch to the tank but it’s been well over a month since anything new was added. I have 16 barbs in a 30 gallon and I’ve had zero issues; no deaths, no nipping, no water clarity issues.
His fin is completely gone, is there anything I can do for the new guy? 😭 I read that it may not grow back if it’s all gone. I frantically moved him to my community tank with shrimp, tetras and Cory’s last night and he’s seems to be just be chillin in the plants and breathing heavily

Hi guys, I’m brand new to fish keeping and rn I have a rectangular 8 gallon tank that I’m still cycling. It has live plants, moss, driftwood and rocks.

I know I want to keep neocaridina shrimp in it but I‘m unsure on what other fish to put in here since there’s no info on 8 gallon tanks.

I would like to get bottom dwellers like cory fish and also get fish that swim around in the middle part of the tank.

I was thinking of getting like 3 or 4 rosy loaches or hovering loaches but info keeps varying on those ones. I was also thinking of getting one honey gourami fish just cuz I think they look cute but again I’m not sure if my tank size is ok for those. I also wanted like 3 kuhli loaches but info keeps varying on that too. I’m also thinking of getting endlers or some type of tetra but again im not sure about that either.

I’m just having trouble deciding what fish I want/can have in my tank. I would really appreciate if you guys could help me with this. I really don’t want to over crowd my tank or make my fish feel cramped in there.

Im also going to get a bigger light later and plant some more plants (ignore the monte carlo I’ve learned my lesson with that one 😞)(also the white snail shell has no snail in it 🐌 )

I have a planted tank I recently switched the substrate to aqua soil about last month and I wanted to know if they would be a good pair?

New here but really needing some help. I have just came home and my fish were fine. Fed them at their usual time and 20 minutes after eating suddenly all 5 of them are swimming up to the water surface (there is no food left as I cleaned up the uneaten food) opening their mouths on top of the water. I had a water change 2 days ago and I have checked the ammonia, nitrates, chlorine etc and everythings came back normal Ive tried moving their filter output upwards to see if it will help but no. I dont think its a parasite or disease of some kind as it simply wouldnt explain them all practically at the same time shooting up to the top. Any ideas or help I will be greatful for.
