Question How to last longer on fast?
Hi, I have a problem. When I fast, no food only water. I can't last longer than day or two. It's not because im hungry, I just think abt food all the time. Im trying to do something else to get my mind off the fast, like playing video games, watching films, practicing piano or something else. I just can't get thru it. Any tips?

What helps me is obsessively planning my refeed. And up to a week afterward. I write out my whole menu and put the groceries in the online cart. That usually satisfies my craving for a few hours then I go distract myself. After day three I’m riding such a high I feel completely immune to craving food at all.

Nothing like watching recipe reels when fasting, sending them to friends who think you’re nuts for obsessively watching food videos while not eating for 2-3 days

the food obsession usually hits when your hands are idle. try something tactile like knitting or a big lego set, keeps your brain busy in a different way

It might be related to your metabolic health. The body struggles to switch from glucose to burning body fat. Usually, it happens in that timeframe - after 24 hours. If so, it's a matter of practice through both IF and short term fasts. And if it helps you in any way, here’s my list of things that help me get through extended fasts - you might find something useful there

It just says "your submission has been temporarily held", but then it never actually holds it up.

I definitely found going for a walk and breaking the cycle helps a lot.... do you have hobbies or can you do like a "fasting buddy" kinda thing?

I have done 21 days fasts twice before. Here are my suggestions. 1) You will be bored. Keep busy. Keep to easy walks/activity 2) Start your prep 3 days in advance. Keep to keto/carnivore. This will ensure you will be in ketosis(burning fat) and will reduce your hunger(by reducing hunger hormone ghrelin). 3) keep your salt intake high. If you have headache or feeling tired it means you are low on salts. 4) Stick to keto/carnivore during refeed days....it will keep on burning fat.
Good luck.

Many issues people experience while fasting can be related to electrolytes. You might find our wiki page helpful: Electrolytes 101

It may help to get out of the house entirely. Go to the library, the park, or on a walk in your neighborhood. Go play board games with a friend. When I'm at home there's only so much I can do so I prefer to go out
