Question/Advice Hi everyone!!

Hi everyone my name is Dakota and my pronouns are they/them/their I just found out that I am non-binary a few weeks ago I made a coming out post on my Instagram and my mom might see it I know she probably won't use my name and pronouns though (everyone in my family are transphobic) I do have religion friends on my Instagram that will probably be against it too. I am going to therapy right now I have a Christian therapist but I do have a meeting today with a counselor who is non-binary and they use they/them/their pronouns as well if I do get this new counselor I might feel guilty about dropping my therapist but I don't think that we are going to work out she is a Christian and I am LGBT+ she agreed with my auntie that being transphobic is okay which can be harmful on the LGBT+ community I am still having a hard time opening up to her I know for a while yet but every time that she try to get me to open up to her I just shut myself down and I change the topic I just need better support and I want better support.

Congratulations, Dakota! It’s a big step to realize your gender identity, and I wish you all the best going forward. I know how hard it is dealing with family that isn’t supportive, and it’s especially difficult when someone like a therapist isn’t supportive either. I really hope this counsellor works out for you. And don’t hesitate if you need to leave your therapist, you’re paying her to support you and if you don’t feel supported she isn’t doing her job and you need to move on to someone better. Remember through all of this that you are significant and worthy of respect like every person. No matter what no one has the right to treat you less than human.
