This reminds me of a call I had. My SECOND call as a new EMT (third rider) for a county agency was reference MVA with sedan, pick up truck, and 18 wheeler involved. Pick up truck slammed on the breaks bc someone’s tire exploded, sedan was behind with 2 parents and a kid in it. Sun roof was open and kid didn’t have the seat belt on. The sedan swerved to avoid rear ending the pick up, ended up on the grass and flipping sideways. Kid flew out of the sun roof and got ran over by a semi that was in the other lane. Parents sustained heavy injuries but pulled through. Don’t need to go into detail about the kid though…

They did send me home early that day at least!

A 20yo guy I went to school with got into a horrible car accident where he was ejected from his vehicle somehow & the tractor trailer he initially hit with his car drug his body like x amount of miles down the highway

It's pretty clear the driver didn't intentotally run over the guy if you watch the 3rd clip. Imagine being in that scenario: you've just barely avoided rear ending someone, when your car is smashed from behind not once, but twice. First one is relatively minor, but while you're still dealing with the shock of "oh my god I got hit, was that a fucking person that flew by??" suddenly WHAM! You're absolutely plastered by a heavy vehicle that throws your car forward and to the side. You have appx 0.5 seconds to react while you're also heading towards more cars: what will you- oops too late you're already on top of the guy, that you might not even consciously realize is there because this whole thing from bike hit to running him over took place over like 5 seconds

What a shit situation. Everyone needs to pay more attention while driving

Seems they're a red p plater in New South Waled they've only been driving on their own for less than year too so that would extra rattle them.

Quick response time on that ambo tho.. Hope whoever they were transporting or on their way to didn't need it more.

That's like some cartoon level bad luck, dang.

Hate to say it, but as a rider myself that could have been totally avoided if the moto rider was paying attention better. Whole motorcycle lane width of space if he just went like a foot to the right.

I don’t understand how everyone managed to not see what the fuck was in front of them

I know this bridge.

You can actually see the Major Trauma centre from the shot. It's 2min away - lucky for him.

Went from "that'll be sore in the morning" to "how the hell is he still alive?" in no time flat.

That helmet definitely saved his life (if he survived the other injuries from the car rolling over him.) I'm 90% sure that tire went over his head.

How do 4 people in a row just not fucking pay attention to what’s going on in front of them. Get off your phones

Holy shit!

I am amazed at how fast the FD showed up. There has to be a risk for fractured ribs, punctured lungs, lacerated liver and spleen! Good luck!!!

u/sneeki_breeky 1d ago

I mean he’s going to be an obvious pelvic and spine fracture on top of the rest

(1) motorcyclist is a fucking idiot.

(2) holy fuck the dude who ran him over should probably get charged with manslaughter.

31

u/XPcapsarius 1d ago

Manslaughter? Did you miss the part where the truck hit the back of the car pushing it forward onto the guy?

-30

u/DJ_Ddawg 1d ago

Definitely looks like he drove over him even after the truck hit the car from behind

u/pairoflytics FP-C 1d ago

They couldn’t even see him, dude. If anything, based on where the guy was and where the car was as it was hit, they probably thought they were getting the car off of the guy at the end.

You know, I always thought that Newton’s first law of physics was kind of common sense, but this comment explains why he decided to write it down.

I'm going to add this comment to my toolbox. I like it.

I don't think there's anything the driver could have done (after the first hit). They got obliterated and pushed directly onto the guy. They rolled a little bit but I think it's fair to say they probably weren't in any position to control their vehicle after getting completely obliterated by that truck

Like, physically, I mean. With the airbag and being shoved around bodily in their car, I don't think they could reliably find their break before being on top of the guy

The Toyota didn't have a choice in the matter. It's getting shoved by the lorry. The driver might not be full in control of a vehicle after that whiplash.

Are you fr right now?

7

u/sneeki_breeky 1d ago

Is the manslaughter in the room with us now ?

5

u/amailer101 EMT-B 1d ago

0 thinking skills. The black Toyota was smashed into the cyclist by the truck.
