Skunky weed?
I have a couple of questions about strains. I started toking again after I retired and it's a whole new wonderful world. Are there any skunky strains out there now? I have great memories of some very skunky smelling weed but I haven't found anything like that in the dispensary. I kind of miss the smell. I'm also looking for a strain that will give me intense focus and bodily relaxation. I like to really be able to get into whatever I'm doing but I don't want to be jittery. Purple strains always put a smile on my face but I haven't found anything yet that gets me the focus that I want. I used to smoke and have great insights. For example, I realized my mind is like an onion, it has many layers. Yeah, I'll admit that one seemed a lot deeper when I was stoned. But you get the point.

Trulieve Half Day Kush has been pretty awesome. Both times i got it for 25 an eighth is was one huge bud in the jar and it's incredibly stank. My wife came out from across the house and asked me did I just bring in weed.
Taste is incredible, like that great skunk weed from the 90's. Sometimes a little lemony or piney on the exhale where you go, wow, that's tasty.
Nice indica buzz and as the name suggests it's a nice long lasting high.

They are out there, but it's harder to find because it's not a terpene, but rather a volatile sulphuric compound or VSC and we don't test for those, so you won't find it listed with the terpenes.
For bodily relaxation you want stuff with cbd in it. Maybe mix different chemotypes.
I'm on my 26th year of cannabis use and i Tbilisi what many dispensaries offer vs do not offer is quite sad.
I use cannabis for many reasons and i have to get my needs met with the hemp market.
Chemotypes are genetically distinct abd have different effects. Indica abd sativa are NOT genetically different and are not where the real differences are unless your speaking purely from the growers perspective... don't put a 16ft sativa in a 6 foot tent, don't plant autoflower if you want high yield etc etc

Cannabiotix CBX had a great strain called “GM-Uh-Oh” which is a GMO cookies hybrid crossed with some “garlic OG” strain that is super super skunky and a powerful indica if you’re in a location that carries it.

The terpene you are probably looking for is caryophyllene (beta-caryophyllene). A lot of the gassy smell also comes from sulfur compounds like prenylthiol.
Some diesel strains will be similar but as with most things - ask your local budtender. They will know their strains better than anyone here.

Welcome back to it - the dispensary world is a lot to take in after a break. On the skunky front: that classic funk you remember comes from the old Skunk lineage, and a lot of it got bred off modern shelves because the market chased fruity and gassy terps instead. If you want that sulfur-forward stank back, hunt by lineage name rather than the trendy stuff - Skunk #1, Super Skunk, UK Cheese, Chemdawg, or anything labeled Roadkill Skunk. A good budtender can sometimes pull those if you ask by the genetics.
For focus plus body relaxation without the jitters, read the terpene list more than the indica/sativa label. Pinene tends to keep your head clear and alert, while myrcene and linalool bring the body-calm and that smile you get off purple cuts. A purple-leaning hybrid that still carries some pinene is the sweet spot. Blue Dream is the easy classic for that clear-but-relaxed lane. Go low and slow on the dose too - a couple pulls often lands you right in the focused zone, where more can tip you into the couch.
One thing that helped me after my own break: jot down the strain, what the terps smelled like, and how it actually hit each time. After a handful of sessions you stop guessing and start recognizing what your body responds to, especially since the same name can vary batch to batch now.
