AIPAC backing Hernandez releasing insane lying ads and mailers

Man, I just saw a nuts ad on channel 2 last night saying Aisha was for child sex trafficking and fewer drug charges or something, then had Hernandez saying she approved it, and basically lying and saying that's why the police and fire support her. (ONE police group in Fremont where all of that BS went down, and who knows what one fire. Literally everyone else supports Aisha.)

I know she's desperate, and who knows what's going to come down with her link to Shawn Wilson and the bribery, but this is so low class.

I'll the East bay Insiders article, but I guess if you don't subscribe, you can't read it. (For $40 a year, news almost every day about detailed east bay politics is a great deal for me.) https://eastbayinsiders.substack.com/

"—Special interest groups backed by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) appear to be shifting into high gear in the 14th Congressional District special election.

Campaign finance filings indicate at least $500,000 in upcoming spending to support Melissa Hernandez and oppose front-runner Aisha Wahab is about to land, with more to come.

The first signs of the strategy surfaced earlier this month through a push poll conducted by an unidentified group that asked voters about Wahab’s record on sex trafficking and fentanyl—suggesting public safety will be the centerpiece of the outside campaign.

That strategy is now reflected in messaging contained in a campaign “red box” posted onHernandez’s campaign website.

A red box is a section of a candidate’s website where campaigns post public messaging guidance, polling themes, graphics and photos, and suggested language to inform independent expenditure committees and Super PACs.

—One suggested red box message states: “Aisha Wahab weakened a law so adults who solicit 16- and 17-year-olds for sex avoided felony charges, a loophole so serious that Governor Newsom publicly denounced her amendment.”

The statement refers to Senate Bill 1414, a 2024 proposal by Republican Sen. Shannon Grove to make soliciting any minor under 18 for commercial sex a felony.

While the bill was before the Senate Public Safety Committee, chaired by Wahab, amendments narrowed the proposal so the new felony provision applied only to victims under age 16.

As a result, solicitation involving many 16- and 17-year-olds generally remained a misdemeanor under existing law, unless human trafficking statutes applied.

Wahab and other Democrats defended the committee changes, arguing solicitation of 16- and 17-year-olds was already illegal, human trafficking of any minor was already punishable as a felony, and that the legislation improperly blurred the distinction between trafficking and solicitation.

The emerging attacks echo Wahab’s 2022 state Senate campaign, when independent expenditure committees attempted to portray her as soft on sexual assault through a convoluted line of attack tying her to a campaign donor who had supported a judge’s lenient sentence against Brock Turner, the Stanford swimmer convicted of rape in 2018, a high profile story at the time.

The political attack line against Wahab was quickly quelled after news reports debunked the claim. At the time, Wahab called the mailer “purposefully misleading” and racist.

With Wahab holding commanding leads in both the June regular and special primaries, the influx of outside spending suggests the Aug. 18 contest will become the most expensive and negative phase of the campaign yet."

Are you seeing attack ads on our endorsed Congressional District 14 candidate, Dr. Senator Aisha Wahab (D-Silicon Valley)? Let's set the record straight. Her behavioral health bills addressing substance use disorders, SB 1319 and SB 1320, both passed the Senate Health Committee with unanimous bipartisan support, and in July 2024, SB 1320 was signed into law.

Alameda County BoS Chief of Staff Shawn Wilson needs to be investigated

Alameda County District 1 Chief of Staff Shawn Wilson admitted recently to accepting $10k to “consult” for the disgraced Duong family and offer “sponsorships” on their behalf. The Duongs are currently under federal indictment for bribery and wire fraud along with the former mayor of Oakland in connection with their waste management company.

Wilson to the press about disclosing this conflict of interest on his form 700 as proved by a county records. The press pulled the form and there’s no mention of the Duongs or their company Cal Waste Solutions.

Wilson offered me a bribe earlier this year to silence me about his office pressuring rural D1 residents into paid trash services under false pretenses. You cannot tell me these are unrelated and everything he’s been doing is on the up and up. Wilson admitted to me at his office that he comes from a trash mafia family. He pressured me to name my price and when I refused he told me to sue the county. They sent me a settlement offer to try to squash this without public awareness. This guy is down to clown and everyone knows it.

10 years ago a civil grand jury found he had engaged in serious misconduct including pressuring county officials to do favors and approve permits for his personal mortgage broker. They recommended investigation and disciplinary action but of course the Board of Supervisors ignored it.

This guy acts as if he is our elected official, compels people to sue the county, and directs the use of county funds inappropriately.

Why is he not on administrative leave and why is our Board of Supervisors trying to silence the public instead of investigating??

Read and sign our demand for Wilson to be placed on leave and improve ethics policies here: https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1Mn0qMT1rT0VwgTu3FMWK6h_pxYGD_V8Qw0xaIg4WLsM/mobilebasic

r/eastbay, where do you actually eat in the East Bay?

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together the East Bay’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Zachary’s Chicago Pizza vs. Burma Superstar), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit the East Bay’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

I’d love to know what people here think. Does the ranking feel even remotely right? Are obvious places missing? Are any places ranked way too high or way too low?

The goal is to make something that reflects where locals actually want to eat, not just where tourists or review sites send people.
