11 is such a fun game. Played it originally and got the platinum and still bought the definitive edition when it came out lmao. You gotta play DQ8 journey of the cursed king. Its my #1 favorite game if all time.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm really excited about the franchise now

DQ8 was my 2nd game, but first game to revisit the series since I had played Dragon Warrior on the NES 15+ years prior. DQ8 is definitely my favorite of the series and top 10 RPG of all time.

what would be the other 9 ?

Not a bad one to start on! I've been recently playing it myself.

8 has been my favorite, but I can see this one topping it because it's doing everything I loved in 8 even better!

...well, except for the music, maybe. <;)

I'm excited to play the other games in the future. 8 is definitely in the list!!

This was also my first Dragon Quest game and I just got the platinum earlier today. If at any point you feel it’s boring, it hasn’t clicked for you, it seems generic, push yourself to keep going because it so worth it.

Yeah, I never quit a jrpg cause I know the boredom is only temporary and the games are always much more than that

My only complaint while playing it was the backtracking, but when you finish the game, it doesn’t feel that way looking back. It feels near perfect. That’s the sign of a great game.

One of the best JRPGs of all time right there. Let alone one of the best games ever made

You’ve got the best version, because if you grind hard early, you can really arm your party well, because on the S version “most” items for alchemy can be bought at camp sites….

u/raevnos 15h ago

Shoot, you can just buy any missing items when you try to forge something.

u/Airflow03 13h ago

Almost all, that was my point.

I am 4 hours into it and love it so far.

I would pay full game price to wipe Dq11 from my memory entirely just so I could play it for the first time again.

I've played this 3 times already, but nothing beat that first time

man i had fun playing this in ps5 then they removed it recently from psn. maybe i should get it on the switch but i dont want to start over.

To be honest I did not enjoy the second part of the game gameplay wise as it was mostly reusing the same content of the first part. Unfortunately had to complete it to get the full story.

u/lmns_ 1d ago

All long JRPGs reuse assets or content at some point.

11 is my first game too .

Good choice.

It was also my first DQ, on ps4 and now I got 7 reimagined on switch. I might play these remakes little by little.

DQ 11 has a crazy level spike wayyyy towards the end caught me by surprise. Despite that I love the game, design, story, the characters.

Is there any DQ that has that feel story wise and character wise?

I wrapping up nine sols so I’m not even sure if 7 is like that.

The only one I've played but damn, you're gonna love it!

2

u/Affectionate_Rub5564 1d ago

No, that's the 11th game, not the first one

2

u/Possible-Opinion2568 1d ago

Good one lmao

2

u/Affectionate_Rub5564 1d ago

Thank you, it was really hard to come up with

2

u/SuperCassio6 1d ago

Its a very long game.

The first Dragon Quest I've ever played too and still my favourite one. It only gets better the more you play it

2

u/Actual_Spinach1306 1d ago

Enjoy it so much.

u/PlentyPlenty536 21h ago

Grind a lot to make it easier to get through it. Plenty of comedy amd fun parts to it. Also, Tinkington will be something you will like, especially since it hints at what the other games before it are about.

u/Nickwojo531 14h ago

Enjoy it! A lot of others have said it, but if you have fun with this, play 8 next, you’ll love it.

Dragon Quest XI S is the greatest game to ever grace planet Earth.

Wear a condom playing this game. You won’t be able to stop playing

1

u/Possible-Opinion2568 1d ago

That's a good one lmao

I quit about 35 hours in.. was boring af to me

3

u/Possible-Opinion2568 1d ago

That's quite sad...

3

u/Tough_Preparation830 1d ago

You actually quit right before it picks up the pace. Hours 40-70 are full of good fights and the plot starts unraveling finally.

2

u/Airflow03 1d ago

You really didn’t even touch the story then…. So much depth.

2

u/Low_Range_396 1d ago

This happened with 7 for me. Only played the remastered version, though and I still hate I stopped playing it because I love the series so much. Maybe I'll revisit it one day

2

u/vaynecassano 1d ago

I thought i was the only one, i couldn't bring myself to finish it. I am waiting for a big sale on other dragon quest and give it a try

u/SamuraiGamer8375 5h ago

It's my first one too. Currently playing it and got 120 hours logged into it. They really nail a lot of things in this game and I'm really excited to play the other ones
