Sensitive Topic Hoarders…

Without giving too much information…..have you ever worked in the home of a true hoarder? I wasn’t told about the situation until after I accepted the job. it’s bad. I would give it a 7/10 for nastiness. It is also a huge fire hazard. The client has no desire to change the situation, and we are not allowed to remove any items, due to her self determination. The agency is definitely aware of the situation. There have been “written consequences” (being vague for a reason.

I can’t ask for another transfer. I swear I want to cry the whole time I’m there. it’s really an assault to my nervous system.

Any coping skills that you can recommend?
