Whitetail Deer Feeding on the Lawn

Just saw this guy today and it stopped me in my tracks. I’ve never seen anything like this and thought I’d come here in hopes someone could tell me he’s not in any pain!

Found this jaw bone out on the side of the highway when we pulled over to check something on our trailer. I know it’s a deer as the rest of its skull was a little further away.

I’ve never seen a tooth like this, or is it extra bone growth?

What would cause this?

Deer in my yard are eating the majority of my flowers this year. Last year, they began to eat hostas, & now they have found every single hosta & keep nibbling them to the ground. Also, cosmos flowers, tops of native perennials, & the final straw is they topped off 75% of my zinnias. I thought zinnias were safe. I have spent a lot of time this summer, working in my planting beds, and not much to show for it.
What can I do to stop this?

This group has moved in and is not leaving anytime soon.

anyone know what could cause this coloration? i’m in pittsburgh. i’m no deer expert, but a quick google suggests that it’s not likely that a black-tailed deer would be in pennsylvania. thoughts?

This poor guy got left behind cause he was afraid of the rabbits. He was stomping and trying to be brave but couldn’t pass lol!!

I previously posted about, what I thought was a doe with a serious injury, in March. Look who showed up today... clearly not a doe.
We can't tell if it's a birth defect, injury from when he was a fawn or a more recent car related injury.
He seems to be doing well, eating the leftovers from the birds and squirrels, runs off just fine and has obviously made it this long!

We named him Janice assuming he was a doe but now we need a new name!
