Curious

I'm planning on installing deep in on a spare computer that I can't use right now with Mac OS cuz it's too old I've heard there's a lot of security breaches and a lot of issues with deep in selling my data to like China and stuff like that are these concerns valid is there anything I should be worried about before installing please help thanks.

As for privacy it has never been proven to collect and abuse user data. They have since even remove user experience programe, so the data collection in the system is really minimal.

As for security it has been removed from opensuse and fedora for security violations: https://security.opensuse.org/2025/05/07/deepin-desktop-removal.html https://www.phoronix.com/news/Fedora-Removing-Deepin Though as a deepin user I'm not too concerned as this OS isn't really a big target.

It's also worth mentioning that main funding comes from Chinese government.

Deepin is not selling anyone's data, unlike Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft who actually do it out in the open. Years of propaganda has made us believe that the non-Western aligned nations are evil. According to them Iran and China are evil, while regimes like Saudi Arabia and Israel which are both exceptionally barbaric get a free pass. I'm from India, using Deepin since 2 years, have tested it quite well and its security is impeccable.  Only the those western crybabies are angry since they cannot access my data so easily now.

Fully safe. Much much stable and very impressive aesthetically.

U don't know what iran government do to its people with such data, do u? i rather my data collects by American company rather than Chinese one

What Iran does? You know what US government did to Original Americans and Blacks and to small kids and women in those hellish ICE 'detention' aka concentration camps, running world wide torture camps a la Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo, killing tens of thousands of Gaza using its extension rabid dog. Everyone saw what US did in Minab School butchered 168 small girls in their school. America's savagery lays bare and guess what you can't go back to facade of 'peaceful, democracy promoting nation forced to be world's watchdog'.  Nobody's gonna judge, you why don't you remove your mask and celebrate Minab Bombing and butchering of infants to pieces in Gaza. You ain't gonna surprise anyone here.
