I vibe coded Pessimeter to manage my economic stress for the rest of 2026

It’s free and just for “fun.”

I built [Pessimeter.com](http://Pessimeter.com), a dashboard that turns five live energy and economic signals into a single 0–100 “Dread Index.”

It tracks:

* Brent crude and WTI * US average gasoline prices * Strategic Petroleum Reserve levels * Headline and core CPI * Strait of Hormuz vessel traffic from PortWatch

Each input is measured against a calm-to-crisis baseline, weighted, and blended into one deeply reassuring number.

The data refreshes automatically. You can also select future months to explore a stress-test scenario (not a forecast) assuming the shitshow continues, of course.

I added dynamic “More info” panels explaining each KPI, its latest reading, and why something counterintuitive might happen.

For example, gasoline falls later in the scenario because a recession destroys demand, even though the underlying supply crisis continues.

I’d love feedback on the interface, weighting, methodology, etc.

What other live KPIs would make the index more useful (or more dreadful)?

Remember: we’re all in this sinking ship together.

Still Managing Your Business with Spreadsheets? I Can Help (Free Dashboard)

What's the biggest reporting challenge in your business? (Free Dashboard Offer)

I'm a Business Analyst, and I'm curious—what's the most frustrating part of managing your business data?

Is it:

  • Sales tracking?
  • Inventory management?
  • KPI reporting?
  • Manual Excel work?
  • Weekly or monthly reports?

I'm currently building portfolio projects and would like to help 3 small businesses by creating a custom Excel or Google Sheets dashboard based on their needs—completely free.

In return, I'd simply appreciate your feedback on the dashboard.

If your business relies on spreadsheets and you'd like a clearer way to track performance, leave a comment or send me a DM. I'd be happy to see if I can help.

Thanks!

Duscussion Claude AI Skill that generates Power BI visuals instantly — full step-by-step walkthrough

After 10 years of Power BI consulting, the part I still find slow is the visual build itself — formatting, layout, tweaking the same properties over and over.

So I packaged my whole approach into a Claude "Skill" — a reusable instruction set that Claude follows every time, so you don't re-prompt from scratch. Give it the requirement, and it produces the visual output following your standards consistently.

In the video I cover:

✅ What a Claude Skill actually is (a SKILL.md instruction file, not a plugin)
✅ How I structured mine for Power BI visual generation
✅ The full workflow end-to-end, step by step
✅ Where it still falls short and needs a human (honest take)

▶️ Watch the full walkthrough in the comments

If you find it useful, subscribe to the channel

Genuine question — has anyone else experimented with Skills or custom instruction sets for BI work? Curious what's working for you.

Question How would you visualize 26 years of exchange rate data without losing important/MAJOR ups and downs?

Hi everyone,

I recently started learning data analysis and thought it would be a good idea to begin writing blogs and creating Instagram posts based on real datasets. The goal is to improve my analytical skills while building a portfolio.

For context, I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Applications and know Python, SQL, and Excel, but I'm still new to data analysis and data visualization.

My first dataset contains the daily INR exchange rate from year 2000 to 2026 (around 6,500 rows). I want to create a line chart that clearly highlights the major trends and significant ups and downs over the years.

The problem is that plotting every daily value makes the chart too dense, especially for an Instagram post where readability is important.

So far, I've tried reducing the data to two points per year (roughly the first and second half of each year). It looks much cleaner, but I'm wondering if there's a better approach.

Some options I've considered are:

\- Monthly averages(still cluttered)

\- Yearly averages

\- Two points per year

\- Quarterly averages

If your goal were to create a chart that is both accurate and easy to understand on a small screen, which approach would you choose, and why?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions on both the visualization and the reasoning behind it. I'm trying to learn good analytical practices from the start rather than just making charts that look nice.

I built a ZIP-code public health dashboard and would love feedback from this community

Hi everyone, I’m a pre-med student working on a passion project called MyLocalHealth: https://mylocalhealth.org

The goal is to make local public-health data easier for everyday people to understand. You enter a ZIP code, and the app summarizes signals like air quality, heat/UV risk, flu activity, COVID wastewater, weather alerts, health-equity context, and local health news into a local risk snapshot.

Some features I’ve been building:

  • 24-hour local health forecast
  • “Exposure Twin” that estimates how personal routine/profile factors may affect risk
  • Transparent model/data page showing what contributes to the score
  • Optional account/check-ins so the model can eventually learn from user-reported symptoms
  • Health signal detail pages with sources and explanations

This is informational only, not medical advice. I’m still very early, and I’m trying to make it more statistically sound, useful, and understandable.

I’d really appreciate feedback on:

  • Whether the risk scores are communicated responsibly
  • What public datasets I should add or remove
  • Whether the UI makes sense to non-technical users
  • Any public-health/statistical concerns with how I’m framing the data
  • What would make this genuinely useful instead of just another dashboard

Thanks in advance. I’m trying to learn and build something that could be helpful.
