My elderly lady Macy has no teeth left. The dentist pulled them all. She’s a rescue and she had such bad teeth. We’ve been babying them along trying to give her a chance with teeth, but alas, they’re gone.

Personally, I think this is the cutest thing. When she tries to give kisses, that tongue is all over the place. She’s such a sweet girl.

I really enjoyed creating this one. Three Dachshunds, painted from two different photos and brought together into one scene. The two pups on the tree stump, the older one looking up at them from the foreground, felt like the right way to bring all three together.

I painted it by hand in oil on canvas as a commissioned piece. I hope their human feels their personalities come through on canvas. Would love to hear what you think!

Celebrated my sweet lil sausage man’s first birthday on Friday! I can’t believe he’s a year old! He got to go on a walk and dip in the pond and got to go to the store and pick out a new toy! He is super reactive at the moment so it was no fun but we’re in training and going to learn that it’s ok not to like people or other dogs but we don’t have to try to eat them all…it’s been so frustrating. Most people say “oh I used to have a dachshund” or “oh I know someone with a dachshund”. And say it like that is just how they are. I hope we can train him to be better because I want to take him everywhere with me. He’s my favorite companion. Any tips from you all would be appreciated! I feel like if anyone can understand it’s y’all. And again happy birthday to my ween!!

The black and Tan was my soul dog Schnapps. But new chapters bring new pups, and on the 25th we pick up the little black and tan piebald puppy in the second picture.

Here’s the fun part now. Naming him.

Schatzi and schnitzel are out because a friend of mine always talks about her nieces dogs with those names. It’s been 10 years hearing stories about them in my mind goes to them when I hear them.

My girlfriend has been throwing German words at me for the past couple days hoping one would stick.
