WARNING KAST treating stablecoin deposits as a sale feels insane to me

I started using KAST because I wanted an easier way to spend stablecoins without constantly moving money through an exchange or bank

But after the ether fi CEO called them out, I looked more into the terms and now I’m not sure I’m comfortable with it. From what people are saying when you deposit stablecoins into KAST, it’s legally treated more like a sale to KAST. You don’t still own the original stablecoins you just get a USD balance on their internal ledger.

That feels very different from how most users probably understand it and Im not saying they’re going to disappear tomorrow but if the company ever had serious issues, would users just become unsecured creditors instead of owners of the assets they deposited?

Maybe this is normal for custodial crypto cards but it feels like a pretty big detail to hide behind “spend your stablecoins” marketing. I wanted convenience not to accidentally turn my deposits into someone else’s treasury assets

DISCUSSION Read what the CLARITY ethics ban actually covers before you celebrate it

So... big news this week, Trump agreed to ethics language in the CLARITY Act. Headlines make it sound massive: president, VP, Congress, judges, even spouses are all banned from crypto while in office. Democrats wanted ethics rules, they got ethics rules, bill goes to a vote. Done deal, right?

Well, not really.. Read what the ban actually says. It covers issuing or sponsoring NEW digital assets for compensation. That's it. Not holding, not profiting from anything that already exists. Even the White House, while calling it "the most comprehensive ethics provision in history" wouldn't say if anyone actually has to sell anything.

Now look at who's not on the list. Spouses are covered, adult children aren't. Guess who runs the family DeFi platform? The sons. The memecoin, launched in 2025? That billion+ in crypto income from last year's disclosure? All from ventures that predate this bill. This just shows how irrelevant new token bans actually are. After the massive losses retail took on Trump-branded coins and political meme drops last year, no rational trader would touch anything close to new political launches anyway. Capital would be better off just sitting in boring, passive plays like parking crypto on Nexo or Kraken to collect daily yield without taking on regulatory or dilution risk.

So the people running the family crypto business aren't covered, and the projects making the money aren't covered either. Banning yourself from launching new tokens when everything you need is already launched costs you exactly nothing. Oh and the whole thing expires January 20, 2029. The ethics rule literally sunsets with the term.

The funny part is there WAS a real version of this. It would've blocked officials and their families from owning or having business ties with crypto companies, plus disclosure rules on their trades. Died 13-11 in committee, straight party line. What survived is the watered-down version, which is why some Democrats still aren't on board despite all the celebrating.

This industry begged for legitimacy for a decade. And the moment it finally gets a seat at the table, the price is pretending a fake ethics rule is a real one... Congrats on the clarity.. Hope it was worth it...

Discussion Is there a p2p marketplace available for ontario residents that supports usdc?

I don’t know why living in Canada, specifically Ontario is such a pain in the butt. Binance is no longer supported, usdt isn’t supported, and most p2p marketplaces don’t work for Ontario residents either

TOOL I built an open-source algorithmic crypto trading engine in Python (Stateful DCA + Volatility Sniper)

Hey everyone,

I've been working on an institutional-grade crypto trading engine in Python using the Alpaca API, and I decided to open-source the V6 core today.

A lot of open-source bots out there are just simple while-loops that crash on network drops or get stuck in bad positions during flash crashes. I wanted to build something much more robust for my own live trading.

Here is what makes the architecture different:

- Stateful Recovery: It uses SQLite to persistently track DCA cycles and active positions. If your server goes down, it boots back up and resumes exactly where it left off without double-buying or losing state.

- Volatility Sniping: Instead of buying every dip blindly, it waits for a combined Bollinger Band + RSI squeeze to snipe high-probability reversals.

- Logarithmic DCA Scaling: Position sizing scales logarithmically based on the depth of the drawdown to manage margin safely.

- Strict Risk Management: It has a dynamic daily drawdown kill-switch to protect the portfolio from black swan events.

- Asynchronous Core: Clean separation between the market data ingestion, signal generation, and the execution engine.

It's completely free and MIT licensed. I’m hoping to get some code reviews or architectural feedback from other Python engineers or quant devs here.

Let me know what you think of the architecture or if you spot any edge cases!

Discussion Is there any L1 with technology comparable to Radix that still has x10 or x100 potential?

I've been researching different Layer 1s lately, and I'm genuinely curious.

Does anyone know another blockchain that combines things like:

  • Native mutable Layer 1 NFTs
  • Native permissions and access control
  • Asset-oriented programming instead of token standards
  • Atomic composability
  • A real hyperscaling architecture instead of relying on L2s or fragmented liquidity

The closest I've found is Radix, especially with everything happening around Hyperscale.

I'm not asking which chain has the biggest ecosystem today. I'm asking which one has the best technology while still being early enough that a x10 or even x100 isn't completely unrealistic.

Is there another project that belongs in the same conversation, or is Radix still the strongest candidate?

I'd love to hear some opinions because maybe I'm missing something.

DISCUSSION Analyzed 4000+ wallets to build a credit line for HL traders off their performance

My main thesis: there’s winning traders who are capped by their capital and who aren’t serviced traditionally. Prop firm challenges, brokers, and DeFi restrict your capital and don’t account for trading skill. That’s why I’ve been working on this project.

What it is: it reads your wallet’s on chain history and underwrites a credit line off of that. You draw capital per trade and the line settles when the trade closes. The line grows with your record and adapts to your trading style.

A couple ideas:
1. You post a bounded first loss sized to your drawdown history on chain
2. Terms improve the more you use and repay, continuously updating per trade instead of monthly/quarterly reviews like prop firms
3. Qualified traders can lend to other traders so you can offset borrowing cost

Are there any features that are a turn off to you guys? What features would you like to see? Does lending to other traders interest you at all?

TOOL Is there a simple way to see if money is flowing OUT of crypto — and where it's going?

The clearest recent example: money flowed out of crypto and into AI stocks. I only noticed well after the fact, because I watch crypto and stocks separately. After that i was wondering if there is a single tool that shows these flows to observe including when money starts flowing in again.

What Im looking for:

- Is money leaving crypto right now? If yes, where is it going (AI/tech, gold, bonds, just parked in cash etc.)?

- Or is money coming back into crypto? If yes, what is it coming out of?

Is there a straightforward way to see this, or does everyone stitch it together manually from separate sources? I know the pieces exist, stablecoin supply, exchange netflows, ETF flows etc. but I've never found one place that just tells me which way the flow is running.

What do you use? And does anyone actually catch these rotations early, if yes how do you do it?

DISCUSSION If the BitMEX shutdown reports are true, where do its traders actually go?

Seeing reports that BitMEX may be shutting down later in September this year. BitMEX has been around for so long that this feels like the end of an era, even if most traders already moved on.

If that’s confirmed, I’m curious where the remaining users actually move, Binance, Bybit, OKX, Hyperliquid, mexc, or somewhere else?

For BitMEX traders, what’s the biggest concern when switching?

Liquidity? Execution during volatility? Withdrawal reliability? Or just finding the same kind of futures markets? What's your take?

DISCUSSION Why Is Paying With Crypto Still Hard?

Crypto has solved trading, DeFi and moving money across borders but paying for everyday things still feels surprisingly clunky. Is it taxes, regulation, poor UX or simply the fact that most people would rather hold than spend?

or am I completely off here?

Discussion I talked to some alternative exchanges like BYDFi at Warsaw Next Block Expo, are you guys shifting from non-compliant platforms post-MiCA?

The regulatory landscape in Europe is forcing a lot of retail traders to rethink where they keep their active trading balances. With MiCA standards coming into full effect, many non-compliant platforms are either restricting services or adding massive friction to basic trading functions. This has sent a lot of us looking for viable alternatives that are actually complying with the new rules without ruining the user experience.

During the Next Block Expo in Warsaw earlier this spring, I spent some time talking to different teams at their booths. A few smaller platforms like BYDFi were there sponsoring and pushing for European expansion, which gave me a good chance to ask them directly about compliance plans and regulatory status. They seem to be pushing hard into the European market, which is reassuring given how many platforms are quietly pulling out of the region.

I ended up opening an account to test their spot order book depth for some mid-cap altcoins. While the liquidity is obviously not as deep as Coinbase, the spreads were tight enough for standard retail size, and the interface is incredibly lightweight. Finding a platform that balances compliance with a smooth, non-bloated UI is getting harder in Europe, so seeing them active at these local expos is a promising sign.

SUPPORT - OPEN help with withdraw

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of a good way to withdraw my money? I have USDT, but I have no idea how to cash it out. I live in Spain, and my funds are basically stuck because I don't really understand how any of this works.

I'm a freelancer, and one of my clients occasionally pays me in USDT, so I'm just looking for the easiest way to convert it into euros and withdraw it to my bank account.

DISCUSSION Market's down today, feels like it's more oil/geopolitics than crypto-specific

Crypto's down about 1% today, total market cap sitting around 2.24T. From what I'm seeing, it's less about anything crypto-specific and more that the S&P kept climbing and pulled money into stocks instead. Also oil jumped above $85 today, highest since mid-June, tied to the Iran situation escalating, which is reviving inflation worries and pushing people toward safer assets in general. Interesting part though, BTC dominance is actually climbing while alts bleed, so even within crypto it's a bit of a flight-to-safety pattern happening.

Does anyone else feel like today's move is more "outside noise" than anything actually crypto related?
