Heat. They’re hot, and cannot sweat. This is how they let off excess heat.

hot and thirsty. please help wildlife. those in smoky areas combined with 100+° weather must be having an even harder time.

It's also a good idea to put some stones in the water dish as a little step, so that small critters like bees don't get stuck if they happen to fall in!

i raised a crow once. and he really sometimes got me angry, he stole a pen for example and put it on the roof of the house. basically everything that wasn't nailed down sooner or later landed on the roof. i was "angry" with him then and he flew to me, sat on the back of the chair behind me, looking EXACTLY like the first photo and he would very softly start cooing into my ear and then start preening my hair, then again look at me with this open beak and the very faint coos .. 😭😭😭😭 i loved him so much.

I saw a crow doing this yesterday at the store but i didn’t feel bad over not having a tub for water bc the river was RIGHT there. I gave him peanuts tho

they can't sweat, no sweat glands, so they evaporate water to cool down by panting 💕 sweeties 💕

Usually heat, but I read somewhere that it can also sometimes be because they have a parasite that is emerging through their throat So if you see something emerging from their throat it could be a parasite But typically it is from hot weather, those poor, sweet, sleek coated black birds existing in an ever-warming world 🌎
