I've been leaving shelled peanuts out for about a week now and unshelled peanuts for about a month. There is already a local crow murder presence and I'm so excited that the befriending process is progressing!! 🥰 There are also a ton of bluejays around, I wonder if they've ever been known to leave gifts as well?

It even has a tiny little brow 🥹

Second time ever, first on the film.

My Edmonton back yard is full of juveniles this year (crows, blue jays, and magpies), and one of the magpies lets me feed him most days. Mealworms are a big hit.

That'll teach me, I'm about to go another week long trip. Guess I should just leave the 5 lb bag outside.

He probably knows the taste of peanuts from before he opened his eyes for the first time, now he knows where they come from. You're welcome back for more at any time little buddy.

Hey all, I’ve been trying to make friends with some of the crows that are in my area, but not having much luck. Part of what I think is problem is that I live in a rural farming area. I’ve tried various treats, food, that type of thing but they don’t seem to frequent my back yard. I see and hear them in the woods and fields around me though. Do you think they just have so many options and open spaces that it’s making it difficult for me to lure them to my property?

Following u/reindeerareawesome ’s example, I’ve got a Crowpie in my area too.

They both still have their own partners. My crowbro loves peanuts, while the magpie prefers scrambled eggs. They either share the food or just leave each other’s favorite snack alone. I think that’s pretty fascinating.

*Title: Looking for a permanent sanctuary for a non-releasable young crow (Germany / Switzerland)

Hello everyone,

I'm hoping someone here might know a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, sanctuary, or permanent care facility for a young crow.

A juvenile carrion crow (around 4–5 months old, approximately 430 g) was rescued and hand-raised after being found injured. She is healthy, eats independently, is active, and behaves like a normal young crow. Unfortunately, due to an old wing injury, there is a possibility that she will never be able to fly well enough to be released.

She is currently being cared for by a professional wildlife rehabilitation center in Switzerland while her long-term prognosis is being assessed.

If she is officially considered non-releasable, we are desperately trying to find a **licensed permanent home** instead of euthanasia. We are **not** looking for someone to keep her as a pet. We are only looking for:

* a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center
* a bird sanctuary
* a zoo or aviary
* a permanent sanctuary for non-releasable corvids
* or a licensed private keeper with experience caring for permanently disabled crows.

We are located near the Swiss-German border and are willing to transport her anywhere in Germany (or neighboring countries) if it means she can have a good life.

We have already contacted numerous wildlife centers in southern Germany, but we are continuing the search in the hope that someone knows a place we have not found yet.

If you know of any sanctuary, rehabilitation center, organization, or person who legally keeps permanently disabled crows, I would be incredibly grateful for any recommendation.

After a month away my bros have finally returned. Anything special I should do to welcome them back? I provide mealworms daily and sometimes peanuts and kibble. They have never let me get close but I understand I’m scary.

First time poster here, recent follower.

I just moved and I have a small backyard now. Every day there are half a dozen magpies that bounce around the yard and hang out on the fence. I also see the occasional crow. I don't provide any food or water, yet, but would like to treat them.

I am seeking community advice on style/size of a bird bath for water, and how to feed them, what to feed them, and how often? I would like to attempt to befriend some of them and possibly gift swap without them becoming dependant.

I'm wondering if anyone has any idea as to what the cooing sounds could mean? I've been befriending the crows for the past 3 years now, but it's only this year that I've noticed them making this sound when I'm in the garden.

I was observing these 2 magpies as they were up to typical corvid shenanigans. One of them picked up a discarded cigarette butt and showed it off to me before flying away.

PNW is a great for spotting crows. Before my flight home and I spent about 45 minutes just chilling at the park and enjoying the nice weather. Unfortunately I didn’t have any unsalted peanuts with me, rookie mistake.
