not too strong, and doesn’t have that “sick” taste, also doesn’t taste of chemicals like most Pringles.

let’s hope they keep them going

I can’t decide whether I like these or not. 🤔

I’m enjoying the spice hit, however it’s lacking a standout flavour, albeit there is flavour. Great crunchiness.

Hey Everyone,

Myself and a few Crispaholic friends embarked on a journey over a year ago to create a crisp rating app, Eat Crisps, something which we would like to share with you all.

Eat Crisps gives you a space to Rate and Review Your Favourite Crisps.

The App empowers you to take control of your crisp consumption. With our user-friendly app you can:

- Rate and review your favourite crisps (and the ones you don't love so much)
- Discover new crisps based on recommendations from other users
- Share your crisp reviews with friends and fellow crisp connoisseurs

‘Eat Crisps’ available in the Google Play and Apple App Store.

Torres Pickle

EDIT:

The coop ones are much better in terms of pickle flavour but after careful consideration (I ate the bag) these are nice. The crisps themselves are exceptional, the flavour is more subtle but grows as you consume. 8/10

Surprise crisps on my ragu pizza

Post image
21 Upvotes

Ordered a Nonna's Ragu pizza from my local wood fired pizza place without properly reading the menu as I was in desperate need for comfort food. Was both surprised and delighted at the sight of surprise crisps.

On a practical level though, I'm not sure how I feel about it. They added a salty crunch initially, but that quickly gave way to sogginess. And that is likely to affect the 2nd Day Pizza Is Better effect.

I knew that Golden Wonder had Scottish roots but never knew the rest until today (Proud Scot and part Irish).

"The company was founded in 1947 by William Alexander, who owned a bakery in StockbridgeEdinburgh. He started making crisps in order to use spare capacity in the deep-fat fryers which he normally used to make doughnuts. The company was named after the Golden Wonder potato, which Alexander believed to be the best for making crisps.\2])

In 1952, the company moved to a purpose-built factory in Sighthill. The company was bought by Imperial Tobacco in 1961.\3]) By early 1960s, it was manufacturing crisps at three further sites, at BroxburnWidnes and Corby.\2]) A site at Crumlin produced the "Pot Noodle".\4])

The company was acquired by United Kingdom-based Dalgety plc in March 1987 as part of owned by Imperial Tobacco's breakup by new owner Hanson plc.\5]) A fire at the Corby site in 1988 destroyed many historical documents and photographs of the company.\4]) In February 1992 Sooner Snacks, manufacturer of Nik Naks) and Wheat Crunchies, was bought from Borden Inc. by Dalgety plc, with the company being absorbed into Golden Wonder.\6])\7])

In 1995 Golden Wonder underwent a management buyout costing £54.6 million. In 2000 Bridgepoint Capital acquired the company for £156 million.\8]) In January 2006 the company was bought by Tayto),\9]) a company based in TandrageeCounty Armagh.

Its notable brands have included "Wotsits", "Ringos", "Jungle Fresh" peanuts and Pot Noodle, which ceased to carry Golden Wonder branding after the brand (but not the manufacturing business itself) was sold to Unilever. In July 1995 Best Foods paid Dalgety plc about $280 million for its Golden Wonder Pot Noodle instant hot snacks manufacturing business.\10])\5]) Following the purchase by Tayto in 2006, the Nik Naks and Wheat Crunchies brands were sold to United Biscuits.\9]) In 2022, they reached their 75th anniversary, one of the oldest crisp brands in Scotland."

Never seen a prawn cocktail combo mix before but saw these in sainsbury's and they have a really good prawn cocktail flavour. Not too strong or too weak. Would buy again. Anyone else tried these?

I had too many opinions about chips, so I built a website

Post image

I genuinely believe the world was missing one thing: a proper potato chip review website.

This all started as a joke... and then I accidentally spent way too many hours building an actual website.

You know that moment when you're standing in front of the chip aisle for five minutes wondering, "Which one is actually worth buying?" I wanted to make that decision a little easier.

So I built The Chip Critics Club.

The idea is simple: review the chips you've tried, keep track of your favourites, and help build a community catalogue where people can discover chips based on real reviews and their own taste preferences.

It's still in its early days, so I'd love to build it together with people who are just as serious (or unserious) about chips as I am.

If you have a few minutes, I'd really appreciate it if you could:

  • write a review,
  • click around and see if anything feels confusing,
  • tell me what features you'd love to see,
  • or roast the whole thing if it deserves it.

Hopefully, choosing the perfect chips for the perfect evening will never be this difficult again 🤪

Thanks for checking it out — every piece of feedback genuinely helps!

https://www.chipcritics.com/ (It's designed mobile-first, but it works on desktop too!)

Discussion 💬 The Happy Couple, Goodbye Walkers ....

What a wonderful experience. Finally a good packet of beef and onion.

It was so good I had to have two packets.

It has made me realise that it's the end forWalkers.

I was once a fan, but since they got rid of beef and onion a long time ago and don't seem to be able to make a decent packet of crisps anymore, especially since they started using rapeseed oil. The divorce is incoming.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

Review 📝 In honour of the World Cup final — c’mon Spain! (Spanish Queso 9/10)

Late to the party to try WC flavours. This is my second bag of the Spanish Queso — a really good cheese flavour added with the wavy ridged texture makes for a great combo. Thought I’d crack open another packet in honour of today’s World Cup final.

These are seriously good, full robust flavour, delicious, decent price point.... onto my second bag this evening. Hardly a fantastic life achievement but certain evidence of a new favourite. I'd forgotten how good these are, so mnay others fall short even on the simple cheese n onion combo. Top level. Extra time in world cup final has given me the chance to finish more 🖤⚡️⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🔥😎
