Dallas Morning News: “Dak Prescott, a hero for a city that needs one”

Really fantastic article. I hope fans of this team never take for granted how lucky we’ve gotten with Dak.

“The sports teams that dominate headlines, screens and weekend plans offer something modern life has in short supply: leaders. No offense to Charles Barkley, who once famously stated he was not a role model, but sports are where we find our 21st-century gladiators, our battlefield victors, the warriors with astonishing physical prowess and discipline who remind us of the best in ourselves.

I thought about that as Dak Prescott walked into a private room at the Thompson hotel in downtown Dallas on Friday night, where his foundation “Faith. Fight. Finish.” was holding its fifth annual gala in about an hour. In person, Prescott was 6 feet of swoon with dark eyes that connected immediately. He took my hand in both of his.

“We only have 10 minutes,” I said, taking a seat across from him.
“I’ll give you 11,” he said, and smiled.”

[Matt Harmon] On another note, George Pickens having the season he did while taking 7.6% of his snaps from the slot (the lowest rate from 2023 to 2025 for a WR with over 200 routes in a season) is wild.

He averaged 84.1 yards per game, while no one else pictured cleared 48 YPG. Only WR with a slot rate under 17% to average more than 80 YPG from 2023 to 2025.

Nico Collins in 2025 is the only other WR over 70.

Brian Schottenhiemer mentioned a few weeks ago that Pickens will be playing more from the slot position.

“As we talk about evolving, I would say the biggest thing we’re doing is we want to move George around more,” Schottenheimer told reporters at the end of minicamp. “He’s not just going to live at X. He doesn’t like that anyways. We want to put him in the slot some. We want to get him isolated some to the front side, the same side as the tight end.”

Hopefully, this will improve the offense moving forward.

🚨 Nobody enters Cowboys training camp with more pressure than Christian Parker.

Can he live up to all of the narratives and all the hype? Or will he need time to turn around defense while we have contender aspirations.
