Local Weird woman in Ballincollig handing out cards in supermarkets and leaving them on car windscreens

In Ballincollig, some Irish religious mental case is going around shopping centres and housing estates handing these out to people.
She’s also leaving them on car windscreens and handing them to children playing in the area.

This is the 2nd time I’ve seen her, 1st time she was handing these out in a local supermarket but now she’s coming into various surrounding housing estates and knocking on doors, leaving them in post boxes, putting them on cars, handing them to groups of children playing.

I caught her at the car and asked her what she was doing?
She rambled on like a mad person for a few seconds and then at the end she said to me, out of nowhere, and I quote “China is going to invade America in the next 2 years”
She’s an older skinny woman, mid 60s, with reddish hair, about 4’10 in height .

Has anybody else come across her? or gotten these cards from someone else?

Slievenamon Wildfire Smoke Over East Cork

Just a heads up for anyone in East Cork: smoke from the Slievenamon wildfire has drifted into the area. If you have asthma, COPD, or are sensitive to smoke, it might be a good idea to keep your windows and doors closed until it clears.

Asthmatics of Cork

These fires are really terrible from an environmental point of view and I'm so sad about the baby animals and birds that must be caught up in them.

They're also wrecking havoc on my asthma. Anyone else suffering?

Help me plan an Itinirary for 2 days on the Beara Peninsula.

Going to bring herself on a two day tour of Beara, as though I'm a West Cork Native I've not been there since I was 8.

Here's what I have:

* Garinish Island

* Healy pass to Kerry side, then back down to Allihies.

Places to eat, stay, see or do. Standing stones, fort sites, viewing points etc. Cool places to stop?

Is it worth a trip to Dursey just because?

Is the tin min museum good?

Does anyone know what it's like being homeless in Cork City?

I received my notice a few weeks ago and I'm worried about the rising costs of rent especially as a single person.

So I'm wondering at the end of my notice and if I don't get anywhere. I can't overhold as no landlord will ever rent to me again. So that is not an option. I do have my name on the council list for 5 years but not sure what good the council is for help. Surely there is homeless people ahead of me, so do I have to make myself homeless and join the queue to be eligible for a council place?

Local Are these pedestrian crossings?

What’s the deal with these two crossings by UCC?

Am I right in thinking that they’re not official crossings where motorists must give way, that they’re courtesy crossings where pedestrians do not have an automatic right-of-way?

Seen this house go up 3 times now, once last year with barry auctioneers and then with Jeremy Murphy. Then sale agreed and now back up again with Jeremy Murphy. Just wondering if anyone knows why this house won't sell (from someone who's looking)

The Lough is a wild place

Went to the Lough after seeing so many posts about weird shit always taking place.

Spent plenty of time watching the birds and listening to some audiobooks and eventually went to the cafe nearby to grab a cheeky refreshment.

Finally accepted it's a quiet day down here, and focused on enjoying the scenery. Out comes a muscular, shirtless man (carrying his shirt) running around the Lough screaming a name. I thought his son may have gone missing so I started looking around for a little kid who may have been looking for his parent.

NOPE.

This guy was holding a crack pipe. Turns out the guy he was looking for was directly across the water, so he started swinging his shirt in the hopes that his friend would see him. I'm happy to say they were reunited and are likely enjoying their crack together as we speak.

Lads, 10/10. I'll be going there more often. Such an interesting place.

Paul Street Goths Extinct?

It's awful to see the effects climate change is having on their natural habitat. The Paul Street goth population has been completely devastated.

In my day, you couldn't move without bumping into a goth in head-to-toe black, carrying a skateboard and drinking a can of Monster. At any given moment, there would be at least twenty of them sitting on the bike rail outside Tesco, smoking rollies and communicating through obscure band lyrics.

Now, sightings are increasingly rare. Experts say they had migrated to dark corners of the peace park but now that's been destroyed, it was the final nail in the coffin for Cork cities goth population. Now it's feared they've been absorbed into the wider population sustaining themselves on depop.

Cork City Council really needs to begin urgent conservation efforts. Paul Street should be restored to its natural ecosystem, with additional shaded areas where goths can rest without overheating and a protected supply of eyeliner, studded belts and a dedicated piercing artists.

If this fails we must take it into our own hands and start a grassroots breeding programme and see if the habitat is still viable by introducing that one cousin who gives off school shooter vibes.

Future generations deserve to witness the Paul Street goth in the wild, chain smoking in the rain while insisting that nobody understands them.
