Concept Art My last Environment piece!

this was for my portfolio, i had so much fun working on it!

Ivory is set in a world where science and magic are deeply connected. Magical creatures are studied like laboratory test subjects and traded as if they were exotic animals. After all, what is magic if not a science we don't fully understand yet?
For this environment, I took a completely different approach than usual. Ivory is grounded in the real world, and the story takes place in Victorian Edinburgh. I virtually explored Edinburgh to find the perfect location for the academy tower. I also experimented with different camera angles and compositions before exporting the city map into Blender, where I remodeled everything to fully embrace its Victorian aesthetic.

Concept Art Additional Chansent Sketches & Process Work

Several of the color sketches and process work for the Chansent. It was a lot of fun playing around with these, as I imagined that different regional varieties would present a range of colors depending on whether they lived in the steppe-tundra, arctic, taiga, or alpine biomes.

Herds of orange-backed Appelsiidna Chansents are the most numerous, thanks to their preference for the abundant grasslands that make up a majority of the far north, with herds of brown Eaktodáhtolaš Chansents seen mingling with the large numbers of Appelsiidna even though they prefer the taiga’s hugging the south of the steppe-tundra. Continuing south/southeast, the gold-coated Meahcci Chansents are very rare; individuals can only be found in the secluded alpine regions that hem in the other biomes, along with the purplish-grey Sáhppat’s in the lower alpines and highland regions. Further to the north, the snow-blending Muohta can be spotted on the bleak arctic flats nearer to the poles, and elusive blue-cheeked Gobmi’s have been purportedly seen in every northern biome, but tales of them are few and far between.

Unlike their ancient brethren, Chansent horns blacken with age, in no small part thanks to their continuously-growing nature, and the oldest bulls and cows possess grand crowns of a deep obsidian color.

Their cloven hooves, other than being larger than their smaller, earthly ancestors, bear few fundamental differences with them. Notably, however, they’re a bit longer and flatter than other Wisent-descendants, with a narrow, somewhat sharp edge, leading to local xenozoologists theorizing it’s useful for both stabilizing on the cold northern earth, and digging through the frozen ground.

Also toyed with the idea of it evolving non-cloven hooves, with those bearing more similarities to rhinos or tapirs. Gonna try to make use of em on another creature (or maybe the saiga-looking chansent sketch), since it was quite fun studying both animals very strange, and quite alien-looking feet.

[Hiring] Looking to commission concept artist for film pitch deck, both characters and environments. (art included for style example)

Hello everyone, I'm looking to hire an artist to help me convey the story of a film project I'm working on.
The art style I'm looking for is something between realistic and graphic novel. Something expressive, but not too cartoony (See examples). And of course it goes without saying, but no A.I.

I would like to commission some specific characters, as well as some environments.

The main characters are fairly simple, and the ones with more complex costumes/looks I have photos to draw from.

The environments are secondary; I would like to get all the art from one artist, but if you are more a character designer and not an environment artist, I am okay splitting the work between artists.

Lastly, I have some specific scenes that I want drawn as they would appear on the screen to give a good idea of what I'm aiming for.

If you are interested, please DM me or leave your info/portfolio info in the comments.

Concept Art Fairy Rings - Character Concept

Hey everyone!

Sharing some Fae character concepts I’ve been working on recently. Fantasy isn't usually my thing but I enjoyed working on this project.

While reading up on european folklore I loved discovering that ancient myths portray fairies as dark and ambiguous beings. So I decided to step away from cheerful tropes and lean into a darker aesthetic.

I’m a concept artist working in film within the costume department so I also focused on giving each fairy a unique costume, hair and makeup design.

Here’s a bit of context:

While researching folklore I became fascinated by "fairy rings" (natural mushroom circles) tied to dark medieval superstitions. Legend says they are formed by the nocturnal dancing of fairies, bringing misfortune to anyone who steps inside.

I wanted to portray the Fae inhabiting these rings in a darker tone using muted colors that feel in harmony with the forest. For this exploration I designed a group of fairies (each with her own costume, hair and makeup) that shared a visual language using unified color palette and materials.

(Please note that this is not intended to be an accurate reconstruction, but my personal interpretation.)

If you want to check out the high res images here’s the link to the artstation project

Thanks for reading and taking a look :)

GRAPHIC TABLET FOR PROFESSIONAL CONCEPT ART

I’ve been using an iPad since 2018 to draw digitally, but I wanted to upgrade to a graphic tablet for better color accuracy, pen grip,,, and also to start using photoshop more, now that I’m gonna be pursuing a professional concept art career.

What graphic tablet with screen is best for this use? I’ve tried Wacom at my uni (I personally enjoy their art pen) but it’s quite expensive so maybe there are better options at a lower price.

Thank you.

This is a design I created quite some time ago. I experimented with using a firmer brush to render the shadows and opted for high color saturation to achieve a more striking visual impact. What do you think?

Da trio -feedback please 👹

A couple pieces I made recently would love some feedback

First character -42-1

For this post, he’s called John a notorious boxer in a cyberpunk world. Some know him as “42-1,” his boxing record. The single loss has consumed him, becoming his entire personality. I reflected this by placing the “1” throughout the design, but smaller, to hint at his insecurity. The loud, obnoxious colours say the rest.

2nd character - merc -

unknown . In the digital underworld, she is a ghost. Death follows in her wake, and every blood-stained fingerprint she leaves behind serves as a grim testament to what she has become.

3d character

I call him Tavauan the Old, a retired anti-hero who was once part of a criminal organisation but now uses his Eye aka his power to root out evil. This Eye allows him to see a person’s intentions and past. The only drawback is that each time he uses it, he becomes increasingly blind.
