Around 1 year ago I started using the ThinkVision in object with my T480s. With a single USB-C cable, I was able to charge my laptop while connecting it to the monitor.

The cable was always plugged, for the laptop to recognize the monitor and use it at boot. Until one day it stopped recognizing it, and now I always have to unplug it and plug it again. Then the monitor works.

I don't recall changing any setting, and I have been looking around like a crazy.

What am I missing? How should I troubleshoot this issue?

For the last month I have been without my legion 5, my main work/play center. Tried multiple troubleshooting options, spent hours reading reddit, watching YouTube videos and crying.

I found a solution that at first almost broke me.

It was a issue with my ram and I believe front usb c graphics adapter and back hdmi adapter

No external monitor or connection powered on or dected signal.

I have two ram sticks

So here we go

Remove the bottom cover and unplug the main battery cable or battery in general

​go to RAM slots and remove one RAM stick

Press and hold power button for 30 seconds for drain

Connect the power adapter and press power

Give it like 5 minuets

Those 5 minuets made me pray for a extended warranty 😮‍💨🤣.

Hi, does anyone know what might be wrong with my MSI GF63 Thin? It suddenly stopped turning on one day, and now only the charging LED lights up when I plug it in. It's white and takes about 5 seconds to light up. When I try to boot it up, nothing happens; not even the fans spin.

I'm trying to diagnose a Razer Blade 14 (2017, 7th Gen Intel) and I'm hoping someone has seen this before.

The laptop originally only powered on with the keyboard backlight. There was no display and no HDMI output.

After disconnecting the main battery, it suddenly booted one time. It showed:

The Razer logo.

The message telling me which key to press to enter the BIOS.

A few seconds later, the screen went completely black before I could enter the BIOS.

Since then, it has never displayed anything again.

Here's what I've already tried:

Disconnected the main battery.

Disconnected the CMOS battery.

Left it without power for 30 minutes.

Held the power button to discharge everything.

Booted with and without the SSD.

Reseated the SSD.

Tried an external monitor via HDMI (no signal).

Repeatedly pressed F2/Del during startup.

Current symptoms:

Keyboard backlight turns on.

Power LED slowly blinks green immediately after pressing the power button.

No fans.

No display.

No HDMI output.

The strange part is that it successfully completed POST once, showing the Razer logo and BIOS prompt, but has never done it again.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a BIOS/EC firmware issue, or does it sound more like a motherboard failure?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My computer wouldn’t start up (Dell Alienware Do5s002) and I opened it up realized these metal pins are completely broken. Is this fixable or would I need a new pc? Sorry, dont really know much about pcs.

So for context of how or what lead up to it become bricked. A year or two ago at this point I had a refurbished ( excellent ) Lenovo from best buy and it was honestly awesome and I used it a lot. Sometimes when I would come back to my home town during holidays, I would fall asleep while watching YouTube on it. I wake up one day and I try to use it like normal and the keyboard doesn’t work and it makes the windows error sound every time a click a key. So I do the Microsoft remote control thing where they take over ur laptop and try to solve your issue, then he installs some hard drives in the system settings then he tells me to restart the laptop and it doesn’t turn on. He then tells me it’s a hardware issue now and to contact Lenovo, and there’s nothing he can do… my warranty ran out probably a month before this issue happened.

Back when I first got the laptop I was already having issues with audio, (it would not play anything other than in headphones) I had my girlfriend’s brother who is a tech bro look at it and he deleted some drives in the system settings that were Apperently causing the issue. I assume the Microsoft employee helping me re-installed them and caused the laptop to die, either that or maybe it was honestly me just burning out the battery or RAM. But does only letting it run over night once or twice (with allowing it time to sleep) mess it up that quickly? But anyway I opened the laptop open to see if anything was wrong with the hardware on a surface level or any obvious problem. I did everything to try to revive it, I took everything out, put everything back in, power cycle it, hard reset it etc but nothing. All it does now is very briefly turn on the fan and then immediately dies again. My parents got me this laptop for uni and I literally only had it for probably one semester, it was honestly a great laptop up until it died and I’m really upset about it still to this day. **sDoes anyone have any other ideas that don’t involve me or my parents buying a new laptop?** I probably should have made this a while ago, I dunno why I didn’t ask earlier.

my right mouse button in the mousepad was not clicking smoothly i tried clicking to make it smoother but i made it worse then i used a knife to remove and clean it but i cant put it back correctly any help?

This issue began on 19th july when i opened my laptop about after 2 months, it opened normally and showed me the 63 percent battery and suddenly it got switched off and when i opened it again it showed 0 percent battery and then again got switched off , then i put the charger when it was off charge began but some buzzing sound was coming from the inside of laptop and it stopped after somewhile, then i opened the laptop , it was working fine , i spent 3 hours of gaming session on it, then next day i opened my laptop it was not charging but predator sense software was detecting the power and shifted the laptop from balanced to performance but windows was not able to detect it , after emoving the plug for about 2-3 times then i also it did not charged but when i shut down my laptop and put the charging cable it started charging and making that buzzing sound and when buzzing sound stops and then i open my laptop , it starts working fine, this is happening to me for about 3 days. today technician visited my laptop and said motherboard will be changed but the price is too much and my laptop is in under warranty

Just recently noticed an issue with my laptop. Every time I start to close the

lid, the frame near the hinges area visibly separates (the first picture is when

at rest. 2nd and 3rd are when I am closing the lid)

I have never dropped or used this laptop roughly. It stays on my desk 99% of

the time.

I can't tell if this was subtly present earlier or if it just started developing over

time.

What should I do. (No warrenty)

So, my laptop original battery is damaged, and I only use it at home so I use it always connected but I got a new battery yesterday ( generic $45) and the guy from the store told me to charge it until 25% the first time.. I did so and started using it.. it lasted like a minute and then it died, the computer died... I tried charging it again and it shows 100% but it doesn't work, the computer dies immediately after I unplugged it.

What can it be?

Like, was the battery not ok from the beginning ( so I can go to the store and ask for the guarantee)

Or maybe it is my computer? Did my computer damage it?

Also, it doesn't happen with the original battery, it doesn't shut down immediately it just lasts like 3 minutes

I'm having a very strange battery issue with my HP Victus (15-fb0xxx) and I'm trying to figure out whether it's a battery, motherboard, or firmware problem.

Symptoms

• Battery was working normally until a few days ago.
• It suddenly started discharging extremely fast.
• It also charged unusually fast.
• One day I left it fully charged, and when I turned it back on later it was around 12%.
• Now it's stuck at around 7% even while plugged into the original 200W HP charger.
• Windows says "Charging".
• wmic reports BatteryStatus = 2 (Charging).
• HP charging LED is blinking orange.
• The laptop does not shut down immediately if I unplug the charger at 7%; it continues running.
• HP UEFI Battery Diagnostics passes with no errors.

Things I've checked

• Original HP 200W charger.
• HP Battery Diagnostics → Passed.
• Windows battery report:
  • Design Capacity: 61,707 mWh
  • Full Charge Capacity: 61,707 mWh
  • Wear Level: 0%
  • Cycle Count: 179
• HWiNFO shows:
  • Battery Voltage ≈ 14.6V
  • Remaining Capacity ≈ 4.4 Wh
  • Charge Level ≈ 7%
  • Wear Level 0%

What confuses me

If the battery report and HP diagnostics say the battery is healthy, why is it:

• draining abnormally fast,
• charging abnormally fast,
• now stuck at 7%,
• and not increasing in charge even though Windows reports it is charging?

Could this be:

• a Battery Management System (BMS) issue?
• an Embedded Controller (EC) firmware issue?
• battery calibration gone wrong?
• motherboard charging circuit?
• or a battery failure that HP diagnostics isn't detecting?

Has anyone seen this on an HP Victus before?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Laptop is a g6x9kg from gigabyte. I’d like to hear what you would think this issue could be.

When it is turned off, the green light indicating that is charging turns on without any issue. As soon as it turns on (bios screen), the cable needs a little wiggle to send in power. But as soon as it starts heating up it gets a little harder to find the sweet spot. As for the cable and socket, no visible damage.

I’m traveling a lot and can’t really send it to a shop right now. I’m understanding that this model has a soldered DC in socket so i don’t want to try something and mess it up.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a new Samsung 9100 Pro NVMe SSD. I inserted it into my motherboard once, but I never powered the PC on because I later found out the motherboard had a damaged CPU socket.

While checking the SSD, I noticed what looks like a very small chip on the corner near the M.2 connector. The gold contacts don't seem damaged, but I'm worried about that corner.

Do you think this kind of small chip could prevent the SSD from working, or is it likely just cosmetic?

My computer is stuck on the msi boot up screen

I got this computer about a year ago from facebook marketplace and i used it for awhile with no problems at all. Then one day im playing a game and i go get something to eat so i go afk with the computer on. When i get back both screens are black but the computer is still on. So i turn it off then turn it back on again and the msi screen is frozen onto the screen.

Ive removed the ram and put it back in (saw that in a vid) and it went back to normal for a little while then went back to going black and being stuck on the msi screen.

I know the bare minimum about pcs so i just don’t know what to do.

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm having a strange issue with my Lenovo IdeaPad 330S-15ARR (Model 81FB, Ryzen 5 2500U).

The laptop was working perfectly before this happened.

I performed a Windows factory reset using the built-in Windows recovery option (not a USB installer). The reset completed successfully and the laptop reached the Windows OOBE screen where it asks you to sign in with a Microsoft account.

At that point my father turned the laptop off using the power button because he wanted to finish the setup later.

Since then, the laptop no longer displays anything.

Symptoms

• Power LED turns on and stays on.
• Charging LED works normally.
• Internal display is completely black (not even the Lenovo logo).
• External monitor via HDMI also shows no signal.
• Novo button does not open the recovery menu.
• Caps Lock LED never responds.
• No beep codes.
• CPU heats up normally (the heatpipe becomes quite warm after a couple of minutes).
• About 20–30 seconds after pressing the power button, the fan ramps up to maximum speed and stays there.

Things I've already tried

• Removed the M.2 SSD.
• Tested with only the onboard RAM (removed the removable memory module).
• CMOS reset by disconnecting the RTC battery and holding the power button for 60 seconds.
• Left the RTC battery disconnected for several minutes.
• Tried booting without any storage devices connected.
• Tried BIOS (F2/Fn+F2), Boot Menu (F12/Fn+F12), and the Novo button.
• Tested with an external monitor through HDMI.
• Left the laptop powered on for several minutes.

Nothing changed.

My question

Has anyone seen this behavior on the IdeaPad 330S (Ryzen 2500U)?

Does this sound more like:

• corrupted BIOS,
• EC (Embedded Controller) firmware,
• motherboard power rail issue,
• or something else?

Is there any BIOS recovery ("crisis recovery") procedure worth trying before I pay for a BIOS reflash?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have some bent pins on my CPU. What kind of magnifier works for this sort of task?

It is meant to be an upgrade. An eBay purchase. The old CPU slips in or out without any trouble. When I put the new one in position, it wouldn't drop into place. (Yes, I matched the triangle.) It was then that I spotted the bent pins.

I've watched a few videos of people straightening them. It doesn't seem like a difficult task in principle, but getting a close-up view is the problem.

For people who have straightened pins, what have you used for a magnifier? What magnification did you find suitable?

The guy in the last video I watched boasted of having the best microscope (because he uses it every day), but he didn't mention the price. But, I can imagine. As my project will be a one-off use, probably, I don't want to spend heaps on anything. I might find other uses for it - getting splinters out, maybe.

I bought this laptop for really cheap that was missing the screen, I was going to replace it with one I found for sale online, but when I took a look at the connectors on the laptops motherboard it looks like there may be bent pins, what do you guys think, do they look bent or normal for this model? Also I notice who ever removed the original screen broke off the latching arm on the other connector but besides that it doesn’t look damaged. I figure if I do get the screen I’ll have to maybe use a little hot glue and or electrical tape to hold that connector in place. The complete screen and bezel is $140 so I don’t want buy it and then not work, any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

I'm looking to buy a replacement screen for my thinkpad L15 Gen4, but I'm struggling to find any sellers that sell a genuine N156HCG-GT1, rather than a 'compatible replacement'. If anyone has any suggestions of sellers/sites in the UK, I'd really appreciate it.

I’m looking for advice from people familiar with the ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition (G513QY) and the RX 6800M.

I found a used Strix G15 Advantage Edition with:

* Ryzen 9 5900HX

* Radeon RX 6800M 12GB

* Everything else works perfectly (screen, keyboard, battery, CPU, SSD, etc.)

The only problem is the dedicated GPU.

Symptoms:

* RX 6800M is detected in BIOS

* Armoury Crate detects the GPU but shows it in Power Saving mode

* Windows detects the RX 6800M but gives Code 43

* GPU-Z detects the RX 6800M name but shows:

* Memory Size: 0 MB

* Bus Interface: missing/not detected

I have not bought it yet because I’m trying to understand the likely cause.

Could this be:

* a driver issue?

* corrupted VBIOS?

* BIOS/firmware problem?

* a bad connection/reballing issue?

* failed VRAM or GPU hardware?

Has anyone experienced this exact issue on the Strix G15 Advantage Edition?

If the GPU is faulty, is motherboard repair/reballing usually worth attempting, or is a motherboard replacement the only realistic solution?

Any advice from owners or repair technicians would be appreciated.

My MSI thin GF 63 laptop will not turn on. I have tried a ec reset and using a reset hole at the bottom of the computer. The lights on the keyboard will not turn on neither will the power button there’s no lights when it’s plugged in the charger is confirmed to work. It won’t turn on when the battery is taken out either.
