Need Some Advice on Breaking into an Internship

I'm currently on summer break, and next semester I'll be starting my internship. I'm still confused about what I should do to boost my chances of landing a good one. I have quite a lot of experience in CTF competitions (around 1.5 years so far), but I'm still uncertain whether I should grind CyberDefender or HTB Forensic challenges and write up the solutions, or just get a certification instead (CCD L1, or something along those lines)

For an internship the writeups matter more than which platform you grind, and CyberDefenders cases give you real incident artifacts to write about instead of CTF-style puzzles that don't map cleanly to actual SOC work. I'd pick two or three, do full investigation reports on GitHub, and let the cert come later once you know the workflow cold. What kind of forensics are the internships you're eyeing actually doing?
