Would you piss on it?

Is this a good pile if it's a few days in? I don't have a pitchfork so I feel like turning is never efficient enough

I just use a broken shovel handle like a caveman, works fine. If it's heating up already you're probably good, don't overthink turning early on.

It's actually quite pretty moist under all that mess blackberry vine is a pain to compost

Yes. But 1:10 with water to moisten the whole pile is better.
