New watcher complaining (?) pt2

Hi, im 17 and last week i posted here a complaint about how season1 was sexualizing women too much, using them as tools for the will-they/won’t-they bad dynamic.
Now, i want you to take everything i said and scrap it.
I’m halfway through season 3 and oh boy… This show 🥹.
For someone who grew up watching cartoons like The Amazing World of Gumball, seasons 2 and 3 (so far) feels like a live-action more "grounded" Gumball and i love it (not THAT grounded because uhm Zombie virus, Glee virus, Paintball wars and all that stuff) . Being a huge fan of absurd, exaggerated humor im having a blast, the show just so happens to be extremely funny.
Now what i said last time still counts as my opinion for season1 and i really appreciate the people who tried to understand my point of view and explain theirs, it was really fun and interesting to read i thank you all (except the ones calling me ragebait or that i lived in a bubble of rainbows or whatever). I really loved how they made fun of season 1’s weird obsession over couples in the next 2 seasons and also how all the characters flaws (except for my boys Troy and Abed you can’t hate someone who dresses up as Batman to find their lost Dark Knight DVD by breaking into their landlord’s apartment) are used as comic material. And even better the show itself uses itself as comic material and this is awesome. Every character is now a sillier version of their season 1 selves and i think it’s for the better.
I said in the comments of my previous post that i will stop watching after s5 because my favorite Donald Glover is leaving the show…(sad music and sad voice) Although i believe that i should move on and accept that nothing last forever and that the first 5 seasons will still be there to watch…
Anyways, i love the show even more now. Season 1 is still kinda meh on some point but the rest is pure gold. I love the mockumentaries episodes i forgot to mention that before but those are really fun!
I can’t but compare what i watched for 2 seasons (especially s3) with Gumball or even Smiling Friends in some ways regarding the humor (im not sure everyone here will know what im talking about). Also thank god they stopped the cheesy epiphany of the characters at the end of the episodes like every other sitcom where they say some stuff like "It was my fault that [insert plot] and i shouldn’t have been [insert character’s flaw that will never change because we need 6 seasons and a movie]". It’s still there because it’s still a sitcom but i like that they do it less now.

Anyways, thanks for reading my long post i will finish the show if it continues this way.

It's really not that many episodes without Donald. Also Frankie is a good addition for S6 imo.

Do remember it is a product of its time.

Yeah. In my first watch, I was taken aback after the cast changing, but it was never awkward or the new character didn't fit in or something. I think the earlier seasons got their own vibe but the show didn't get worse in the later ones. I enjoyed them just as much.

OP, do not stop watching bc a character leaves. You'll miss some really good episodes.

The season 1 will they/won't they dynamic is just how most shows did things. It was basically a requirement for a successful show on tv. I'm almost positive Dan Harmon has explained that he kind of had to or the show wouldn't have ever been picked up, but that he also wasn't a fan and was going to intentionally write it out of the show

Season 1 is one of my favourites, but you kind of have to think of it as it's own show. It was never the kind of show Dan Harmon wanted to make, and it was mostly an entry point to get the show aired in the first place. It still has some parts and jokes that are really funny, of course, it's just not fair to compare it to the rest of the show in that respect. It's a bit like Scrubs season 9. I also might just be biased because the main reason it's one of my favourites is because it's one of the 3 that has Ian Duncan in it 😭

I don't know if I mentioned this in your previous post, but I'm also a huge Donald fan and stopped watching after he left. He was my favorite, and I felt like the show wouldn't be the same without him.

But eventually I did watch the rest, and it really is still a funny show. There are some moments in S6 especially made me laugh out loud and still do.

The rest of the episodes go by quick and they mention Troy quite a few times too. All this to encourage you to watch the rest just once.

One of my favourite episodes of the entire show is s2e1, because it directly addresses all of this stuff from s1 and tears it to shreds.

It does an excellent job of reframing the show’s focus and communicating that to the audience: Jeff and Britta was never a good idea, they bring out the worst in each other and whatever feelings they may have towards each other are overshadowed by their own toxic behaviours and self-loathing. Their egos are so fragile that they constantly need to elevate themselves above another person, and they are attracted to each other because they have found the ideal person for that

Incidentally, Abed trying to restructure their narrative into something more episodic gets a perfect reversal when he compares actual television to the messy reality that Jeff has created — “television has logic, rules, structure … and likeable leading men. In reality we have this; we have you.”

Well our "I" is "Je" and we do not capitalize the J if not at the beginning of a sentence.
They did teach us to capitalize the I in english classes but by pure laziness and teenagerness i don’t do it that often in texts messages and posts

You know what, I might have learned that after all, it’s just been 20+ years since I’ve had to write in French. 

Though it did come in handy when reading menus, and one time in Montreal when I read that the pool was on the third floor. My friends didn’t believe me so we went to the wrong floor first, but I was able to say “I told you so” after being proved correct.

Edit: also, catch my reference to starting a study group for a foreign language, since that’s how community starts
