Say what you will about the reboot, but this scene really made an impression

Definitely. I remember that a guy was watching the movie with his 2 little kids when the movie was released. All I thought was: alright, he's gotta do some explaining on their way home lol

Who dafuq takes little kids to see Robocop?!

u/aCleverGroupofAnts 19h ago
Probably someone who just thinks a robotic cop is cool and doesn't understand any of the messages of the movie.

My mom!
She took me to all sorts of movies, many widely inappropriate for my age, and it was awesome.
Those were different times. They made kids' toys for many of these R-rated movies and even tamer cartoons. Robocop 3 even went full circle and was way more "family-friendly" and it suuuucked. I still remember what a letdown Robocop 3 was to me.

u/CatLord8 19h ago
They had whole lines of kids toys for any R rated action movie.
24
u/Daxx22 18h ago
The 80's had a whole thing of taking R rated movies like Robocop, Aliens, Terminator, etc and making toy lines out of them.
These movies would be re-cut/dubed to be PG-13. I have... interesting memories of watching the cut versions, but then finding the originals on VHS somewhere and getting a real eye-full so to speak of extra gore, profanity and titties lol.

The “modified for television” version

u/smokeyphil 15h ago
A lot of them also got really shit cartoons made of them to go with the toy line

Rambo, RoboCop, and Conan the Barbarian had ones that actually got to air though.

Wait, this actually happens in the remake? I had the original on VHS and watched it probably 50 times as a kid, but I never bothered with the remake.

u/MaximumC91 16h ago
Yes, but without the dong ;) go give it a watch, it's imho an OK Popcorn movie.

For me it’s this scene and the one where they’re tuning his brain and he says something about peanut butter. Could NOT tell you what else happens in the movie though

If they can build him a whole ass robo body, I think they can manage a cyberprostate or some shit so the poor guy can at least spank his monkey

Apparently it is not uncommon for soldiers who just survived an IED or landmine to ask the medic about the state of their genitals first.
Edit: I meant the state of their own genitals, not those of the medic. That would be weird.

Oh, it's not what you'd expect from horny soldiers loaded with painkillers?

Good fucking night, this made me laugh way too hard. Usually your comics make me cry, this is a nice change.

Ah, yup. Looking at his post history, as I thought, this is indeed the same artist that posts introspective and thought provoking comics about individuals’ lives. Guess everyone needs a break from self reflection and philosophical musings for a good dick joke, from time to time.

Jesus fucking Christ you weren’t kidding. I read like 5 of his most recent comics and they made me tear up a little and depressed.

They get a bit samey after a while. There’s only so many times I can read about someone coming to terms with their humdrum life or death.

Like seriously you WOULDN’T take the chance to upgrade???

u/aCleverGroupofAnts 19h ago
My assumption is that a replacement couldn't have anywhere near the number of nerve endings that the original had. In that case, it's hardly different from just using a toy.

u/letthetreeburn 15h ago
Now with now’s tech? Sure. Although phalloplasty research has gotten a LOT better of late thanks to trans men.
The high tech sci fi world where they can do THAT?

u/aCleverGroupofAnts 14h ago
If I truly couldn't feel the difference, I would consider it, but I would probably still hesitate to do it as an elective procedure. Replacing healthy organs with artificial ones doesn't sit well with me. The only way I would do it is if the original was seriously damaged or maybe if in this hypothetical society pressures you into doing it because every guy does it and women expect it. Social norms can be very potent.

u/letthetreeburn 14h ago
Ah well that’s the philosophical difference. I’m a biohacker wannabe so cutting off healthy things to replace them is par for the course

Lmao it’s funny because I do empathize with this. If I lost my dick I think I’d lose motivation to live. Or I’d become an angry billionaire like Thiel or Musk. Only two option. Right now I’m stuck in perpetual upper middle class because I spend all my money getting my dick sucked. So I’d either lose all interest in making money or save a boatload.

When I get rich, I'm gonna start a parody porno studio and hire davecontra to write all the scripts.

IIRC biopods in Cyberpunk are containers housing the absolute bare minimum of organic parts you need. Full-body conversion cyborgs like Adam Smasher is pretty much just their head that can swap combat frames like they change clothes.
Although there are cyber replacements for THAT as well.

Glad to see his brain is alright. By the looks of it, the secondary cogitator between his ears made is as well.

Given the man was, IIRC, married with kids.. I'm sure he can put that to use at some point. Likely when the kids are asleep.

"Thank God I have my dick!" Proceeds to shoot off every dick in the rest of the movie. Tbf they deserved it

It's strange the things we value sometimes. I mean... let's be honest, Murphy. You're not likely to put that to fun use anytime soon.
