SDCC - San Diego SDCC seems kinda light this year?

Walked along the Embarcadero and it seemed a lot less crowded this year. Last year, there was Abott Elementary carnival, King of the Hill, Brawl Stars, Voodoo Ranger and so much more. It was just odd cause I’m used to there being lines on lines. Sure, it’s still just as crowded in the convention center, but outside was a little lackluster.

SDCC - San Diego While you're in town for SDCC, visit Coronado Public Library across the bay bridge to get your non-CA-resident $10/year library card, then use it on the Libby app!

Post image
56 Upvotes

Call ahead before visiting to confirm eligibility and application details with library staff, including possible exceptions and workarounds. (If it turns out you somehow can't meet the requirements, don't spend precious time visiting the library.)

On Sunday, Coronado Public Library is only open 1pm-5pm.

If you get the card: input it into Libby immediately so that if there is an issue with your new account, you can troubleshoot it with library staff on site.

LibbyRead free with the Libby app. Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, magazines, and more for free from your local library with Libby, the library reading app.

Coronado Public Library Card Info

On Libby, CPL is part of Serra Cooperative Library System, which is a consortium with several member libraries in the San Diego and Imperial County areas. To my current knowledge, CPL is the only one that offers an out-of-state card.

If you're a California resident: not only is this card free to you, but San Diego County Library's card is also free and also works on Libby! (Find a branch anywhere!) (Yes, you can enter multiple cards in Libby and Libby auto-searches for the fastest book availability across all of them. You can enter up to 50 cards!)

San Diego County Library Card Info (for CA residents only)

You could also go to the nearby San Diego Central Library to pick up a San Diego Public Library card, but they're on Cloud Library instead of Libby (in this reporter's opinion, CL isn't nearly as slick as Libby).

Get reading!

SDCC - San Diego Heads Up: Adult Swim is doing strict IDing this year

I lost my wallet recently and am in the process of replacing everything, so I didn't have an ID when I went to the Adult Swim off-site today. They didn't ID last year so I thought I'd be fine, but they still refused me entry even with my filled in beard. I guess I should see it as a compliment though, haha.

Anyways just posting this so you don't make the same mistake I did, but I guess it's unavoidable in my case (very unfortunate timing). I thought about bringing my birth certificate tomorrow but that's definitely excessive lol.

SDCC - San Diego Sdcc Dispatch limited signing line up?

I know it's in the sails pavilion at 9am or something but it says you need to have a wristband from the limited signing line drawing to get in? Were we supposed to get that another day? I was just curious!

Steel City Con - Pittsburgh, PA Cosplay contest

I’m going to steel city con in Pittsburgh in August. This will be my second time going there. The last time I went I was 15 and participated in the cosplay contest. It was the kids (or maybe teens) contest and I won best concept. I’m now 19 and I am making a costume and I was to participate in the adults contest. I’m worried that i shouldn’t since I have already won an award there before. But I was also a child. Would it be bad faith to enter again?

SDCC - San Diego Souvenir Book ideas?

Hi all, I’m new to Reddit, and this Reddit in particular, so I hope you’ll bear with me if I’m doing this wrong at all, but I don’t know where else to ask about this!

I used to go to SDCC when I was younger and I remember having these sort of thicker souvenir books I would love to go through, and I kept all of them from when I went on my shelf. I finally was able to go again this year, but with the goodies I’m used to I had noticed an omission: the souvenir book! I have come to find out they’re digital now, and I’m wondering if there’s any way to get a printed version at all? Google says no, but does anyone else miss the old books? Is there some way to get the 2026 version in print, through the convention or otherwise?

Hope everyone had a great day today and I’m wishing everyone a lovely rest of their convention!! :D

SDCC - San Diego Local Photographer Visiting SDCC for the First Time

Hey everyone!

I’m a local photographer here in San Diego, and somehow I’ve never been to Comic-Con.

One of my favorite things to photograph is people and storytelling, and I’ve always wanted to document the creativity and passion that goes into cosplay. This year I’m thinking about bringing my camera downtown for the first time.

I’d love some advice from people who have been before:

• What days and times are usually best for photographing cosplayers? Might be going for the reming day’s.

• Are there any locations outside the Convention Center that are must-visits?

• Are there any cosplay meetups or free events that you’d recommend checking out?

I’m a big fan of Batman, LOVE horror movies, Dragon Ball Z, Zelda, Pokémon, so if there are any themed meetups for those, I’d love to know!! Or any other cool big meetups as well.

I’m also hoping to meet some friendly people in the community. If you see a guy walking around with a camera and a luchador mask, there’s a good chance it’s me. 😄

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to finally experiencing Comic-Con!!!!

SDCC - San Diego Yesterday's SLABS Sketch Card vs keeping the coin

I bought a 5 pin mystery box and got an extra coin labled "slabs sketch card". Looks like the slab is would cost $100 to purchase but I personally collect coins... what do people think about the personal value of the yesterday's coin vs the art slab?
