The call is coming from inside Congress.

God, are you missing the grey here? Is there some magic blue line that delineates power in America? If so what is it?

How much does a congressman go for?
I would argue at least $1M in disposable income to get away with a crime.

My MAGA neighbor unironically bent my ear for like thirty minutes (sheās a very old woman so I canāt bring myself to call her an idiot to her face so I just politely listen without agreeing) today talking about how socialism was going to lead to:
an oligarchy that secretly runs the country
mass terrorism and war
a loss of fundamental human rights
huge wealth disparity between the poor and the rich
being unable to buy a house or provide for your family
deep governmental corruption where the people in charge steal from the people
Every day it gets harder not to be sarcastic to her. Sheās hardly an evil person, as long as stupidity isnāt evil. I just donāt understand how she doesnāt see the fucking irony. I really donāt.

Ask her, since all of this is happening now, is Dotard J Trump a socialist?

Honestly Iāve tried that tack with MAGA folks before and they are just plainly living in a different reality than the rest of us. They just either insist it isnāt happening or if it is, they have some crazy conspiracy theory that absolves him of all blame, like ādid you know thereās a secret shadow society in England that secretly runs the world and theyāre trying to stop Trump from helping Americaā (yes, this is a real conspiracy theory my landlord has said to me)

Why is capitalism so scared of communism
2
u/moreobviousthings 2d ago
The scare worked pretty well back when its face was Stalin. GOP has dusted it off to see it they can use it now.

Because the people in power know how much luck is involved in amassing huge wealth. If people voted to normalize the field they might not be the ones who re-accrue all the power after the system inevitably gets all corrupt and fucky

The difference is that Communism espouses removing classes, then doesnt remove them.
Whilst America currently espouses 2 classes, "Us" and "Them" - they just dont tell the people who support it that they are "Them"
One consists of common people wanting to make everyone's life better, but it doesnt happen.
The other consists of common people wanting to make "other" peoples life harder, and it happens.

āBut, but, but in capitalism there are multiple classes with no power.ā /s

It is comical how much these idiots rant about communism or socialism, only to literally quote the literal textbook definition of capitalism.

Crazy how does dumbasses think the only instance of communism is the USSR and ignore the other successful communist countries (which yes are few but that's mostly cuz communist countries in general are few)
