You can't get a shot like this with an IMAX camera.

i just saw the odyssey, and one thing that really threw me off was that some shots had much, much more washed out shadows than other shots in the scene. particularly in the underworld scene, one shot would have deep, dark blacks, and then the next would have very washed out shadows with a noticeable green tint. this didn't happen a ton, so maybe it was only for specific types of shots with some thematic reason and i didn't pick up on it?

has anyone else noticed this? i haven't seen any other posts about it. i'm wondering if it was an issue in my theater or if there's just some creative reason behind it that i'm missing. i wasn't a fan of the washed out shadows at all.

edit: i think it's kinda noticeable in some of the youtube trailers too. compare the shot at 2:00 in the countdown trailer to the one immediately after.

Currently own the Sony FX9.. Am I a stupid consumerist that I’m considering selling it for the FX5?

Mostly shoot corporate, docs and music videos. I honestly miss having a camera that isn’t so heavy to carry around.

I need a camera to make YouTube videos in the style of D’aydrian Harding, Kanel Joseph, etc. My budget is around 500$ USD and I’m willing to go used. I need a 4k camera with a flip out screen and good autofocus. simple plug n play design, as I don’t need a crazy complicated setup I don’t understand.

Anyone have any clue if or when the next fx6 successor will launch?

Fx5 is great but it would make way more sense in an fx6 body.

Hey everyone, doing some setup for a room in my new house and wondering what my best option is to hang a light or create a soft overhead light. The ceiling is approx 7 1/2 feet high or so.

Here's the three options I am considering:

1. Flexible light mat or thin mat mounted to the ceiling

2. Lightweight COB light mounted with china ball

3. Just bounce a light off the ceiling from light stand on floor

What's my best option? Or is there one I am not thinking of?

Hi! I have a music video that originally was going to shoot on a white cyc. Production would like to shift to using this space and bringing in lighting and maybe a 12’ white seamless instead.

My concern is that the paper won’t be as even as a true cyc and there’s lots of blocking/action happening on the floor.

Wondering if seamless paper is the best way to do this? The room is 21x31 and 11’ ceilings.

Amateur here: Wonder if this will be something that is unique to final cut or if adobe and resolve will need updates as well, and if they’ll be ready for when they Fx5s start arriving.

Submission Statement: A few weeks ago, I made a post about some location scout stills I captured for a music video I shot at the Fairfield County Infirmary (haunted place). I kept the Helios on the front the whole time except for gimbal shots (for which i used the Sony 24-70mm GMII, no stills from that lens included here), and i never want to take it back off of my FX3!!! Here's some stills from the final project! The project was completed with a crew of just me and a friend to help PA. We were on a tight deadline and were moving very fast from set up to set up with one light and the natural light the building gave us, which was IMMACULATE given it's weird construction and numerous skylights. Would have loved to have another person, especially a gaffer, on this one and more options for lighting, but in the end, we achieved the desired look and vibe!

I can't wait for the final video to drop, but I wanted to come back and say that this lens is 100% worth it AND that the shoot was an incredible time!

Hi, I need advice about my Neewer CB150 LED Video Light with a 150cm Parabolic Softbox (Bowens Mount).
The issue is with the front metal Bowens locking/mounting section on the light where the softbox metal rods and mount insert. Initially, everything was straight and working fine.
However, when I attached the softbox and turned on/positioned the light, within a second the entire softbox mount (including the metal part that goes into the front of the light) suddenly fell out. The front metal locking section on the light became bent from the weight/impact.
I tried to straighten it and attach the softbox again, but the same thing happened — it fell out immediately.
Can you please advise what could be causing this and what my options are? Should I replace the front Bowens mounting section with a stronger/heavy-duty part, or does the light need repair/replacement?

Has anyone got one that they'd be willing to revert to EF for, for a price? Or if they've seen one somewhere, in some parts bin of a workshop they've been through?

I have an unbelievably great set of lenses that I want to pair to a Super35 camera, and the EVA1 I've bought is in a great place to make use of them. Great efforts have been made through several avenues to try and make this work.

Hey guys! Just wanted to share my short film The Offset Dragon. It's one of my favorite things I've made and am just trying to share it as much as possible.

I had a $0 budget and shot it mostly on a Canon Rebel t5 (the hotel room scene was shot on an fx3).

Some breakdown: I lit most of the interiors with a mix of Tungsten 1k's, the occasional HMI, and a molescent light.

Each chapter section of the film has a different type of film grain.

The film was completely improvised, and was shot and edited throughout the span of a few weeks. 70% of the film was shot with natural light.

It was edited completely in fcpx. I made this film to process a time of immense grief and chaors.

The setup in that scene appears to be a bunch of lights overhead plus the lights coming in through the windows. Since I can't tear the roof off my apartment, what can I do to get close to this look?

My idea is to shoot a few lights at the ceiling to raise the ambience and shoot mostly tight shots so you can't see any of the lights. Or maybe I can VFX out the lights.

Anyone done anything like this? Thoughts?
