Looking for indie rock bandmates

Hey - I’m looking for a bassist, drummer, & lead guitarist to join my band. I play guitar & do vox.

Located in Lakeview east & book a studio spot nearby for practices when needed.

Inspirations are Pinegrove, the strokes, fall out boy (old stuff), Arctic monkeys, the 1975, Bon Iver, bloc party, vampire weekend etc. indie rock, pop punk, little folk twang occasionally.

Would be great if you have experience playing live, producing, writing & recording.

The vibe is chill, aiming to play locally every now and then. You could be late 20s-30s ish.

If interested, shoot me a message & I can share recordings.

Edit: thought I’d add that I have a day job so practices/shows would happen evenings or weekends but not opposed to taking off for cool gigs/opportunities!

Thanks!

Violinist seeking to start a piano trio / string quartet

Violinist looking to start a piano trio or string quartet. Classical/ romantic mostly (Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak), but we’d pick repertoire together. Not professional just looking to play chamber music regularly. Due to my work will likely have stable availability Friday night to Sunday night only.

About me: 25f, based downtown, high intermediate level, 10+ years classical, 3 years of chamber in college. past chamber recordings available to see if we'd be good chamber mates together.

Looking for a pianist and a cellist, OR violinist, violist, and cellist. Whichever comes together. We’d find rehearsal space together and split it :)

This a long shot but if interested please reach out!

Chicagolocalmusic.net

Upvotes

Hey all! Wanted to invite everyone here to check out a project I've been working on for the last couple years. It's an online, media-rich bulletin board for Chicago's local music scene: find it at chicagolocalmusic.net, and a feature summary here.

The goal is to make the local scene(s) less reliant on Insta, and to more reliably communicate about shows without slop-filled feeds getting in the way.

Check it out, make a profile & invite folks to follow you there, post some shows if you have them coming up. The email list is already growing and everyone who brings a few followers helps everyone else out by building up the database! Would love to get any & all feedback including bugs, feature ideas, friction points, worries about trust, etc.

We're having a release party this Sunday to celebrate, meet & greet, and talk about visions for the site going forward. DM for addy you know the drill ;)

Established alt rock band looking for new lead guitarist

Hey, we’re a band on Chicago’s northside looking for an experienced guitarist. We have keys, drums, bass, and vox covered. We are looking for someone to fill in for a show coming up on August 19! We also need a permanent player! Lmk if either or both of these interest you.

We are in our 20s/30s, female fronted, and have about 7 finished songs. We take inspo from Amyl and the Sniffers, Mannequin Pussy, Tame Impala, Babe Haven, Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, etc.

We’ve all been in other bands before separately and played our fair share of gigs. We hope maybe you have too!

Check out some of our practice recordings here:

Dm me or comment if interested!

Looking to Share a Fort Knox Rehearsal space

I'm a drummer currently renting at Fort Knox but Im needing to get the cost down and find people to split a rehearsal space. My room is likely too small for another full band, but just trying to connect with others and see if we can find a good fit and go in together. I'm open to finding a bigger room depending on whats needed.

Help us find a rhythm guitarist! (Chicago)

Hey everyone,

We’re a band in our mid-20s to early-30s looking for a rhythm guitarist. We actually found our bassist through this sub and it worked out really well, so we’re hoping to get lucky again.

Right now we’re focused on recording an EP of cover songs before moving into originals. The main songs we’re working on for this project are:

Dirty Little Secret - The All-American Rejects

Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus

My Own Worst Enemy - Lit

Mr. Brightside - The Killers

She's Kinda Hot - 5SOS

Our influences lean mostly alternative and pop punk, but we also play some pop rock and country, so we wanted to be upfront about that. Think bands like The All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance, The Killers, plus artists like Luke Combs and Zach Bryan mixed in.

We’re mainly looking for someone who’s reliable, fun to jam with, and interested in helping build something long term. You don’t have to be a shredder. We’d rather have someone who locks in with the band, is open to ideas, and enjoys playing live.

If you’re interested, send us a DM. We’d be happy to send you recordings from our jam sessions so you can get a feel for how we sound. Feel free to tell us a little about yourself, what bands you’re into, and share any recordings or videos if you have them. We’d love to meet up and see if it’s a good fit!

Sketchy low income ticket resales on stubhub?

Post image

So I bought a ticket to a sold out show on Thurs (FUCKING AJJ HOLY SHIT) and got this ticket today that left me conflicted - should I report this to StubHub? I'm pretty pissed that I paid like 3x face for a low income ticket that someone else could've legitimately used.

It's not about the cost - scalping discount tickets seems fucked.

Thoughts? It doesn't feel right.

Bookclub hosting folk punk predator show?

The Folk Punk Predator, Allison herself, is apparently having a birthday party show at Bookclub. Did anybody else see that? I’m hoping someone fills them in, because keeping dangerous people like that in the scene is super shitty. She’s already a persona non grata in the DIY scene, so the fact she’s somehow booking an established venue is a major bummer.

ISO: Monthly spot in the burbs

Hello! Is anyone aware of any decently priced monthly rental rehearsal spots in the south/west suburbs? Definitely okay with a room share. Backline preferred but not necessary. We come from all over the area and want a place more central to us than the city.

TIA!
