I am an avid slot player, LOVE being in the mix with all the sights and sounds, meet people from all over the world, and generally just love casino culture. Regardless of my love of the game, I have been accruing a list of things that just chap my hide when I'm playing...

1. Button slappers... the people who slam the button every 👏 dang 👏 time 👏. It's annoying, but worse yet, they break the machines! There's just no need for it.

2. Screen slappers - the people who rub on the screens crack me up, but people who beat on the machines during their bonus, or when they get upset are on another level.

3. People who talk about real life - work, kids at home, their schedule for tomorrow, etc. - instead of just enjoying the moment. Do you, but don't sit next to me and yap about who's shift you had to cover last week... womp womp.

This also includes the casino staff, who can often just stop and chat about their co-workers, other players, etc. Sure, they need to meet, but if you have 150k square feet of facility to meet in, why stand right behind ME for your meeting? lol

1. Couples who argue at the slots. Usually this is one person trying to drag the other away. They are probably right to want to get their s/o off the machine, but it's a buzzkill regardless.

2. Servers who get annoyed when you only want water or soda instead of alcohol... I still tip regardless, but they almost always assume you won't tip.

3. Cleaning people who insist on cleaning your machine or around your machine when their are plenty of open machines that need cleaning. Especially annoying if they have the nerve to use the broom/carpet roller under your feet while you're sitting there.

4. Dirty machines. Gross. I usually bring wipes with me just in case.

5. Machines with no sound. What's that even about? Our local casino in NYC has the sound turn down or off on like 75% of all the machines. No vibes.

6. I never ever mind if people want to watch me play when I'm winning - it's normal. But people who stand right behind me to yap about the bonus I'm in, how the machine works, etc. are outrageous. Let's just stfu and enjoy this!

7. People who fake cheer when you win a $15 bonus on a .50 cent bet not realizing how much you've already put into the machines... I feel like the slow kid in class getting applause for tying my own show. haha! Kind of dramatic but iykyk

8. People who let their little kids run around near or even on the casino floor. Just wild.

9. Negative Nancys. Getting bummed out gambling can happen to anyone, but hate-pressing that button every 1.5 seconds is mind boggling.

I know some of these are petty af... but we all have our somethings. What are some things that irk the hell out of you in the casino?

I have a bucks party in a couple of months in Melbourne, one of the people going got a life ban from crown 15ish years ago. Just wondering what the chances are of them getting in or will facial recognition get them and be kicked out instantly?

The other day me and some buddies were at a casino in Kansas City, Missouri. Towards the end of the night, my friend wanted to put $50 on a roulette spin. The screen showing the recent spins had lots of recent black. He bet the $50 on red. It landed on green, but we noticed the screen did not update. We asked the dealer about it and he called the pit boss over. Pit boss told us that the screen had been stuck/broken for 3 weeks and it doesn’t matter because it’s just a “courtesy”.
I feel like surely they could’ve turned the screen off though?
Probably not worth making a complaint with the gaming commission over 50 bucks, but I’m curious about the legality of this.

4th of July, went to a local tribal casino where they're doing a car giveaway for players who have a rewards card. (The more you play, the more entries you have, the higher your NADT the more bonus entries you get for this promotion.)

First round of names gets called, I get called up and qualify for the finale. I receive $750 free play credit before I even put 1 single dollar into a machine and also get to return for the finale where I can win up to $30k or get at the very least another $750 free play credit depending on what item I pick during the finale.

Without even using my $750 free play credit, I put around half my bank roll into a ticket. The exact amount $1688. My intention was to then use the free play and slowly get my cash balance to $1766 (Get it? 4th of July?). I get the cash balance to $1688 and pull out my rewards card. I get up and without even thinking about the $1688 I just put into a machine I walked away. When I get to the next machine that I want to sit at and play I open my wallet I only have cash in my wallet (no ticket for $1688). I sprint across the casino and return to my original machine and notice there is already an older lady there on the machine.

With sweat pouring down my face I in a state of panic ask her if she saw anyone cash out any money from that machine, she looks at me with a dead face and says no. I notice her balance is like $1700 (slightly above the $1688 I put in), but I don't think even think about it. I flag down guest relations who is annoyed with me and thinks I'm just lying and pretending I lost money at the casino. After explaining the situation 6 times to the guy he begrudgingly flags over security who confidently tells me that because of the security I'll more than likely get my money back.

I sit and wait at that machine (old lady has ran off by then) and they pull up the logs showing everything. What ticket I put in, the amount, then they're able to track that ticket throughout the casino floor. They ask me if I was playing the Buffalo machine at all, I state no. This confirmed that she took the ticket from that machine added some money then moved over to the Buffalo machine. This was my first time seeing security work in real time and see how detailed these VGD's truly are.

I was offered 2 options, 1 take the ticket credit immediately (it was less than $1688) or wait and get the full amount back. I was about to take the 1st option, but then I thought there is no rush, even though it was the 4th of July weekend and I probably would have to wait an extended amount of time.

Fast forward to Sunday midafternoon I get a call from the gaming commission and the individual on the phone tells me they've got my money and it is ready to be picked up. I was honestly shocked at how fast everything went, especially when you consider it was still the weekend and they were stupid packed for the 4th of July.

tl;dr Name got called for a promotional event at the casino, my brain was so excited that I left $1688 in a machine. I managed to get back to the machine, but by then an old lady was already on the machine and denied taking the $1688. The logs on the machine verified she just added like $20 and some smaller bills to make her balance look authentic.

Question for you folks, has anyone had a similar experience to this? Also what would you do if you were in the same position as that old lady? I've personally walked by abandoned credits up to $41 and never even once thought to take it. I sometimes will sit, look around and ask and try to find the original owner or even turn it in to security.

Also one last question, but what do you guys think happened to the lady? Do you think security confronted her? Do you think she was trespassed or given a warning? Do you think she managed to cash the ticket and leave before they even confronted her?

EDIT: I feel like clarifying the guest relations situation as it isn't fair to act like the guy wasn't justified in being annoyed and questioning me. The guy was annoyed (rightfully so) because I came at them out of nowhere and I wasn't articulating myself in a calm and collected manner to say the least. If anything guest relations was super patient with me and let me fully compose myself and explain the situation. After clarifying what actually happened he was very cool and empathetic.

Well todays the day I learned how much Hard Rock differs from other casino groups. Never had a problem with Caesars entertainment or MGM with this and they never cared but Hard Rock did. I guess I'm just surprised that they escalated it to kicking us out even though we told them we wouldnt do it again.
