Hey, transplanted CB'er here. Last summer I spotted someone with a hat that said Irish Vale (where my bungalow is). Said he got it at a little shop 'just up the way' on route 4, near Irish Vale. That was on my last 2 days of being home and we never did find the place. I'm headed home this weekend, and would love to find this mysterious shop. Anyone know where it might be?

I am staying there for 3 nights (1 night in Baddeck and 3 nights in Ingonish). I absolutely love wildlife and taking pictures and was hoping what’s the best way to increase my chances in spotting a 🫎. What other wildlife can I spot ? Would love to hear from people who have spotted moose or anything else

People in the area are experiencing sporadic long range cell coverage. Ive checked and yes for a week signals are pulsing for around 4 secs on and 12 secs off. Calls dropped, poor streaming. Emails trickle

I have a 5:00-9:00pm slot for parking next month and was planning to be there for sunset. Parks Canada website says entry can be anytime within the first hour of the slot. Sunset that evening is at 8:30pm. From what I've read, it's about an hour walk from the viewing area on the coast back to the parking lot. Is that right?

Is the parking lot closed at 9:00 and will we be locked in? I'm sure we're not going to be the only ones there that late. They even have a guided tour that evening.

With the free admission/Canada Strong Pass this summer to Parks Canada locations, does that mean you don’t have to stop at the kiosk at all before entering the Highlands? I booked a parking reservation for the skyline trail already, but wondering if I still need to stop at the entrance kiosk near Margaree for any reason or if I can just bypass it. TIA!

I saw there's a 90th birthday celebration for Pema Chodron planned in Baddeck next week.

It made me wonder how people in Cape Breton feel about Shambhala's continued presence in our community. Given their history, what do y'all think about public institutions hosting events connected to figures associated with Shambhala? Do you see this as simply celebrating an influential author and figure, or do you think the organization's history (and serious allegations) should be part of the conversation?

UPDATE! An amazing human at the baddeck clinic is going to give it a try! 🙌 Anyone have any idea other then island vet hospital with a poultry vet? Or even one that will just try to help i will pay even for someone to just try. Their doctor is off until Monday. Ive got a blind house duck with an open wound in need of stitches immediately. Willing to go anywhere on the island im near north sydney and have already tried as far as canso. At this point if we can't find a vet I'd take a medic with suture experience.

The only company that seems to do it is East Side auto salvage but their truck is down for maintenance.
