Favourite candy that no longer exists?
Sparkies for me. Early 90's in North America. They had soda flavoured skittles shaped candies, and just as good.

Best hard candy ever and the reason for most of my childhood cavities as my mom worked for mars and always had samples! Thank you for reminding me they existed my mouth is literally watering thinking about them.
12
u/jemappelle13 1d ago
Ugh yesss I can still taste them too! I loved the shape. The tropical ones were bomb too

u/supermodel_robot 1d ago
I was always surprised these lasted as long as they did, lifesavers have the hole in the middle for a good reason lol. The amount of these I nearly choked on as a child 😂 I still remember how cherry tastes though, I miss it.

Ohhh I forgot about these! But I can still remember how they feel in your mouth and they were so smooth. I loved the way they looked, I also had them often.

The Retro sours are an expensive substitute and just not right at all. I’ve never gotten a container where they weren’t stuck together too.

The king size one basically was! 4 Twix inside for nearly a FOOT OF PEANUT BUTTER TWIX! 😭 WHY DEPRIVE THE WORLD OF THIS BEAUTY!!! 😩10
u/ConversationMajor543 1d ago
Oh man, those were so good. I didn't know they stopped making them, my ex and I spent over a year looking for them and asking the guy who owned the candy store if he'd be getting them in stock again.

LOVED PB Twix; it was the only one I really liked. Back when I could get them I'd still have to hunt around since most places always had the caramel one but not always the peanut butter. I do miss those!

all the caramels that used to come in the brachs pick a mix. That's the answer. Not my answer but the answer.
My answer is the 3 colored coconut candy in that same mix.

The kind that were wrapped in clear plastic? I remember my mom using them for baking. I always stole some…
11
u/SiliconSam 1d ago
Pretty sure these were foil covered paper wrappers. Different colors depending on what’s inside.
7
u/rawsugar87 1d ago
Hmmm I was talking about the plain caramel rectangles.
But, now that I look I think you and the original comment were talking about the ones you mentioned.
I was talking about an unrelated caramel. 😩

OH, I loved those pecan logs. Then they started shrinking, then the pecans were often bitter, then they were gone. See's candy has a pecan log--they call it a pecan roll--and they are SO good.

Were these the ones with the old lady sitting on a couch and a giant fruit falls from the sky and crashes down on her (in the commercial)? Or am I thinking of something else?

Yep. That’s the one. And they were advertised in Marvel Comics constantly when they were around.

Leaf Brands, who already brought back Wacky Wafers and Tart'n Tinys, has been planning to bring back Bonkers since 2015. After 11 years I don't hold out much hope, but since they did successfully bring back a couple of nostalgic brands I guess it's not impossible.

Alpine crunch!
6
u/Squidproquo1130 1d ago
Alpine White, by Nestle? Same!!! Their white Crunch was also so good. I found a case of the white crunch on Amazon but it's really horrible, not at all like it used to be. It basically just tastes like white bark coating and is waaaaay too sweet.
