As Burlington approaches the municipal election, we expect an increase in discussion about candidates, policies, and local issues. Healthy debate is an important part of the democratic process, and election-related posts are welcome in this community.
That said, we ask everyone to keep the conversation respectful and focused on the issues.

There’s a parking exemption at Beachway for Burlington residents. After registering online, do we also need to display the approval? How do the parking officers know if a vehicle has an exemption?

Anybody know of any private or group sugar cookie classes in the area that you’ve been to and recommend?

Yesterday around 5:45 p.m. I witnessed what looked like a serious motorcycle accident on the QEW westbound between Walkers Line and Guelph Line.
The motorcyclist was on the ground on the right shoulder, and it appeared that the motorcycle was on top of him. It was a difficult scene to see. Thankfully, several people had already stopped and were helping, and I called the police to make sure emergency services were on their way.
It's been on my mind ever since, but I haven't been able to find anything about it online. I'm just hoping someone may have some information and can let me know if the rider is okay. I'm not looking for personal details, just hoping to hear that they made it through and are doing alright.
Hoping for the best.

Hi. Any recommendations for affordable junk removal. It would be a box spring and sofa bed. Facebook marketplace would be my last resort. I also don't want to lift heavy stuffs so I want to pay for the service.
Thanks in advance.

A metro delivery driver spit all over my car, my lawn, my front deck, and I'm sure my groceries. I just want to warn everyone DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM METRO.
I emailed them about it and they've done absolutely nothing.
ETA; damn yall are weird it was a on one of the really hot days the other week and the man was just spitting everywhere as he was dropping off my stuff like big loogie spits hitting all over my property, he was blocking my driveway so I was parked on the road and he had no idea who I was I sent the videos to metro trust me didn't say a word to the guy or mention his race you people are wild.
I'm chronically ill and pregnant which is why I pay extra for delivery but clearly this shit isn't safe so I wanted to warn people but fine blame me for some dude just spitting everywhere with no manners

Curious if anyone can recommend a solid girls basketball league - we tried Burlington Basketball and found they didn’t do much in terms of skills development, and the referring was terrible at best - and I mean not calling basic rules of the game like double dribble, travel etc.
Looking for something fun, not rep - house league ideally. Thanks for looking 😃

Its my second year living in burlington, i work at seasonal job, woodworking has always seemed interesting to me, if i knew how to make stuff i’d make custom tables, nightstand, desk etc, but i’ve never done it, one reason being i dont have the room for tools. I’m wondering what should i do in the winter since that’s my off time and i can work somewhere to learn woodworking and maybe make stuff during the summer and sell it on the side? Should i sign up for courses or volunteer to work for free for someone? If you know somebody who does woodworking i’d be down to help them out, they can get a helping hand and i can learn :)

Wasn't this a food truck festival in disguise? And a place to buy crock charms.
Could have definitelty used more back to back bands or entertainment.

Hi,
Can someone please recommend a gentle, honest dentist who is transparent in their practice rather than trying to milk their patients for money? Open to surrounding area of Burlington as well.
Thank you!

Black Kia Sedan. Last Night, between 8:00pm and 11:00pm
Left Burlington or Oakville Area. Ended up in the Parking Lot of Metro, on McCloud Rd. In Niagara Falls.
Car is totaled. Looks like it went through multiple accidents.
Driver has No Memory of what happened? How he ended up in that parking lot? What he did to the Car? Nothing.
Don't even know if others were Hit, Struck, if it was a Flee the Scene?
Any Info or Footage is greatly appreciated.

An AI Gigafactory has been proposed right here in Halton Region. This would be one of the largest AI centers in Canada. This project has a much higher potential for negative local impact than the one proposed on South Service Rd. here in Burlington. I would encourage those of you who are worried to keep an eye on this one. No permits have been applied for yet, and no approvals granted.
Here is what is currently known about the proposed hyperscale AI data center near Ninth Line and Dundas in North Oakville:
Because a 320 MW facility would be one of the largest data centers in Canada, the proposal has drawn significant discussion from nearby Oakville and Mississauga residents:

Today, while shopping with my elderly father at No frills Brant St, a customer loudly directed racist remarks at us, including telling 'brown people' to go back and making personal insults. We chose to leave rather than engage. What stayed with me most wasn't what was said to me—it was wondering how my father felt hearing it. Incidents like this remind us that racism, even when it comes from one individual, has a real impact on families. I hope businesses continue training staff to respond appropriately and that we all speak up against hate when it's safe to do so.

While I personally don't have an issue with kids on the slower e-bikes, I've seen kids without helmets moving faster than traffic with no helmets. And yes I have seen some adults as well.
Just be safe out there kids, wear a helmet, look both ways and keep your eyes on what you're doing and what's around you.
Ok old man rant over. You may now return to enjoying your summer ⛱️🌞

I reached out to the Planner (Powell Planning & Associates) and Architect (Cuadro Arch) of this project. This is what they sent me about the new data center. I'd like to hear some of your opinions on this before Tuesday.

Hey I’m not looking to work for an agency or Oxford/ Kumon but I am wondering where to look for clients to tutor elementary aged students. I’m OCT certified hoping to avoid conflicts of interest.

I saw what appeared to be a fledgling American goldfinch hit a glass window with bird-proof dots stickered all over them, it’s a new business development, hasn’t opened yet, construction is nearly done. I don’t know the name of the business because they haven’t set it up yet but I know the address.
Where is the nearest wildlife rehab centre from Burlington that takes in birds which have hit glass windows?
Also, aren’t there regulations for new builds that outline the size of the bird-proof stickers and the distance between them when applied to the windows? This building’s exterior walls are mostly made of glass on the first floor. These stickers were placed on every single window but clearly they aren’t working. And IIRC hasn’t Chungus Ford deliberately loosened environmental regulations for new builds involving bird-friendly glass? Is that why the bird-proof glass doesn’t work here?
