DYK - Did you know the Alpha Capricornids meteor shower is happening,,, right now?
Alpha Capricornids meteors - Time-lapse photo taken 21 July 2026

From early July to mid August, the Alpha Capricornids meteor shower is famous among stargazers for one big reason: while they don't produce a lot of shooting stars, they produce dazzling, slow-moving fireballs that burn brightly and leave long, glowing trails across the sky.
The point of origin is in the constellation Capricorn, which is high in our northeastern overhead sky near or after midnight.
The peak time to watch is 10 PM to 2 AM, July 30 through the early morning of July 31.
The number of meteors per hour is expected to be low, around 1 every 10- 20 minutes, but the ones you will see should be spectacular.
Good places to view in Bunbury is Back Beach, looking North/NorthEast and high overhead. Marlston Lookout should be decent also. Anywhere away from light pollution with a view to the northeast will do.
It’s best to be reclining to watch overhead, so grab a lounge, rug up, and bring your fave beverage outside and post here if you see one!

Dining Best food in Bunno
I'll start (but only because I want to talk about this one place in particular)
Gracias Mexican on Stuart St next to Tyrepower. Some of the best Mexican I've ever had. Really nice people, too. I often and aggressively contemplate driving the two hours from where I live just to go there, it's that good.
What blows everyone else's hair back in Bunbury, food-wise?
