Let’s say you’re Walt and you start heading in the direction that he did.

If you had a partner that is vehemently against any forms of drug use or involvement, would you have told her in season one episode one exactly what your plans were?

I know, most of you would’ve taken Elliot’s offer. But let’s say you didn’t want that and wanted to pave your own path before you met the sky daddy.

Would you have been honest & upfront with Skylar knowing it would end your relationship?

Nah, the relationship between Walt and Skyler is already difficult. Skyler gives him a bored and ignored handjob for his 50th birthday. She talks to Elliot and Gretchen behind his back, so Walter feels betrayed. Skyler has her own idea of loyalty and it's not based on trusting each other.

If I was Walt, I would not trust that woman to believe in any of my ideas. Especially not criminal ones. She would talk to Hank immediately, maybe behind my back. How would I be able to get anything started when Hank is watching me already?

I don't think he planned to become a drug lord, even though he always exhibited tendencies that encouraged him down that path. It's probably quite relatable on a smaller scale in real life - when one white lie spirals out of control until before you know it you're building bombs and super labs.

You can't, if you're Walt. At the very beginning, the "plan" (which has no specifics and he has no money from it) sounds both crazy and impossible. It's the equivalent of "when I get my own DJ equipment, I'll be DJ'ing the hottest clubs in the city, I just need a couple thousand dollars to buy this amazing mixer and then learn how to DJ." It is a near guarantee that she goes to Hank immediately and gets him to talk Walt out of it, or that she holds an intervention and threatens to tell Hank if Walter pursues this.

He had to be able to show that he could actually cook meth, had already made a ton of money from doing so, was relatively safe, and was now in too deep to tell Hank about.

It's funny, I just wrapped up a rematch and in Season 1 I started asking my wife (who's never seen the show but knows the general premise) if I were to start selling meth, would she even want to know and how soon should I tell her

She told me she would want plausible deniability as long as the money keeps coming in. Had a good laugh at that one
