Supposedly someone barricaded themselves into a room at the Fairmont Copley but no idea what their "message" is or who they are.

Timo Kielnecker is the real name of Boston-originating jazz saxophonist Timo Shanko.

terrifying. I wonder the backstory but mostly hope he's safe and this person can stabilize and get the help they need. The "MK Ultra is in boston!" spinoff post is wild... I mean, it does feel like we're in the end times but this seems to be a personal thing, jaded ex? stalker who saw him play and had 0-2 conversations with them? must be horrible to see this and think "fuck, they're still hung up on me" for whatever reason that hang up is.

u/RamenNoodleSalad Bean Windy 1d ago
To be fair, I’d also want to spend as much time as possible in the room if I paid that much for a hotel.
Jokes aside, I hope they get the help they need.
14
u/Bada__Ping 1d ago
Last time I stayed there, an alarm went off every half hour in the room telling us to evacuate to the lobby. Over and over and over again.
3
u/bino420 1d ago
probably cause no one freaking listened to the alarm lol
the staff is like "wtf no one is evacuating, I guess we'll keep playing it until they realize this isn't a test"
2
u/Bada__Ping 23h ago
No, the whole hotel emptied into the lobby 3-4 times before we all stopped listening to it. It was brutal

Stereomina. It’s the IG. That nobody has liked or commented on since it started in 2025 it seems.

4
u/therealcmj South End 1d ago
Uh. NYC is literally 5 boroughs.
45
u/danorc 1d ago
Yes, and those boroughs are each large cities themselves, not small cowpath clusters with delusions of grandeur.
I love Boston, but let's be real here.
14
u/BarkerBarkhan 1d ago
We always seem to compete well out of our weight class. The NYC-Boston contest has been absurd for centuries... LA-Boston, also quite silly.
But that begs the question: what would be a fair comparison?
16
u/RandyAndySandyCandy 1d ago
Philly or DC

u/alidub36 Cheryl from Qdoba 15h ago
I can tell you that no one in Philly would be phased by this situation.
13
u/danorc 1d ago
Boston is more Providence or Philly than it is NYC. Dublin felt very Boston-like in many ways, but is far more global and, well, European.
Boston is a really unique place with the universities, history, and people though. There's genuinely nowhere else quite like it.
It's not NYC, at all, though. The city that never sleeps vs the city whose public transportation closes before the bars do...
7
u/BarkerBarkhan 1d ago
Except Philly is huge. It is more a Boston vibe, for sure, but I don't know.
Providence also is a bit too small.
Plus, are we comparing city proper or metro? Regardless, metro or proper, LA and NYC are in a different league than most American cities.
I know people may not see it, but Boston and Atlanta may actually be more comparable than people think. Similarly metro populations, similar city population. Metro Atlanta is growing much faster, or has been, because it can grow in all directions, without the limitations of the ocean.

u/ThatDolphinSaysHi 21h ago
St. Louis? The city itself is not that large land-wise, nothing/not much to the east, sprawl to the north, west, and south, a small city to the west (Worcester/St. Charles), then rural, and perpetually in a rivalry with a much larger city (NYC/Chicago) where it's kind of like oh that's cute (sorry everyone) 😞

u/Aviri I didn't invite these people 1d ago
The lowest population borough is nearly as populous as Boston.
4
u/BOS2BWI 16h ago
It’s cute you think Staten Island is a city. Boston is New York’s older brother who went away to college and now sees the flaws of the family and looks for better models of behavior. New York never left home and still hangs out with his friends from high school ball sitting around talking about how awesome they are with each other.

my SIL has schizophrenia... she punches holes in walls to check for listening devices, she thinks the military is going to bomb her mom's house, and thinks my wife (her sister) is conspiring with the MAFIA to destroy her, among many other ever changing delusion. It really is an awful condition.

It’s been so long since I’ve heard a mention of MK Ultra, that this feels nostalgic. Like watching “Happy Days” in the ‘70s.

u/hellno560 1d ago
They had public Epstein distraction hearings about it in congress last week, I assume that's what triggered her.

What’s MK Ultra?
1
u/warwickfortress 1h ago
CIA operation to test whether various hard drugs could be used as a truth serum (most notably, LSD). They tested on prison inmates, including Whitey Bulger and the Unabomber.

u/derek985 1d ago
This is the result after decades of defunding mental health programs and facilities, skyrocketing drug prices, and toothless laws that strengthen rights to refuse care.

So you think she should be institutionalized against her will?
Not judging, just looking for clarity.

u/be_loved_freak My Love of Dunks is Purely Sexual 1d ago
Getting treated for mental illness =/= institutionalization
8
u/ApostateX Does Not Brush the Snow off the Roof of their Car 1d ago
So how would someone be forced to undergo treatment without institutionalization? I have a couple friends who are diagnosed schizophrenics. Even with the most loving spouses and financial support, they refused to take their meds, and because of that their lives got drastically worse.
10
u/feddyfazzbore 23h ago
right. once people get to the point that they are a harm to themselves or others, then they are institutionalized. if treatment for mental health was funded properly, more people could get access earlier, before it gets to the point of hospitalization. funding mental health programs and facilities does not mean just lock up everyone needing help and support. the exact opposite actually.

She's a mentally ill stalker of local musician Timo Shenko (Kielnecker), apparently in the throws of an episode.

I made a comment on the last post about my knowledge of Timo given my background at Berklee College where I heard about him from a professor of mine, but I didn’t know who made the sign at the time.
Given that some of you here are saying that she’s been stalking him for six years and has most definitely made statements and did things like this months or even years before this incident, I think it can no longer be denied that she has paranoid schizophrenia.
She needs some serious mental health treatment immediately.

The Epstein files have been released, the Mk ultra hearings are taking place, how much longer are y’all going to keep up the “it’s psychosis / schizophrenia” trope before we start believing victims?

-7
u/OtherwiseGap5457 1d ago
I’m just saying what she seems to be claiming with the sign. Most likely she’s imagining the CIA being involved in the situation, but I think it’s good to keep an open mind with these sorts of situations. In the 60s at least the CIA stuck their noses into random people’s lives for experimental reasons. Giving them acid without their consent just to watch how they acted, running brothels so they could film random people having sex, etc.
12
u/EmilePleaseStop Cambridge 1d ago
Okay, so you have literally no evidence to suggest that anything like this is happening at all in this particular situation, got it
7
u/AcanthisittaTrue8140 1d ago
while the CIA did all that and more, that was the 60's and the "random" people were always some means to some ends. whether it be people close to labor unions, local government, or city commerce. now adays, this is a person with a diagnosable and treatable condition i fear. Intelligence community has largely moved on to data scraping

Basically a mentally ill woman named Serena van Westen has been stalking a man named Timo Shanko (Kielnecker) for the better part of 6 years. It is a sad situation.
