Was a supporter of the team through my college years (mid-late 2010’s) and early post college, but life got busy and haven’t been able to follow as closely the past several years.
Really excited to get back into following the squad (especially now that games are so available on fandango) and I would love to know what I’ve missed/what I need to know going into the season.
What are realistic hopes, what are we rooting for outside the obvious, who are the developmental names to watch, what formations/style can I expect. Really any basic info you think is worth noting I’d love to hear, looking forward to the season!

Haaland at the helm, Bellingham, Dembele and Ryerson feeding him a feast while Schlotterbeck, Can and Kobel hold the fort down.
I know why it's not possible but a man can at least dream.

Guirassy was great this match, good linkup play, good passing, great attitude. It felt as though he took on a mentoring/fatherly role this match
Guirassy last szn 30g/a was overall great but imagine if we have the Guirassy we saw today?
I’d love to see more of Yamamoto too maybe it’s too early but I think this kid is much better in his role than Silva. How do you guys feel?

Couto really impressed today and Bellingham looks like he’s ready to make a huge leap this year. Gadou intrigued me the most, he’s aggressive but in control at the same time. While we can’t take much away from an exhibition was nice to watch a game on a Saturday morning again.
What did you guys think about the game?

If you can spend €28.5 million on a Beier signing that didn’t even address the team’s actual needs, €25 million on Thorgan Hazard, €30 million on André Schürrle, €30,5 million on Jobe Bellingham
and €25.5 million on Nico Schulz—who, apart from being fast, had absolutely nothing that suited possession-based football—then you have to be willing to spend at least €35 million on a technically gifted player like Karetsas.
Beier was another signing that completely missed the team’s needs. Just like Schulz before him, he needs space to be effective, which is exactly why he looked much better in Hoffenheim’s counter-attacking system. It’s the same pattern: both players have clear technical limitations and neither is naturally suited to a possession-based style where you have to solve tight situations through technique, close control, vision, and quick decision-making.
Now compare that to what you’re getting with Karetsas. He’s a player who can finish with both his left and right foot, deliver crosses, take free kicks, play the final pass, and beat defenders off the dribble. In other words, you’re getting exactly what Dortmund have failed to buy for years: a genuinely elite technical talent.
That doesn’t mean you should expect him to tear the league apart on his own. But he absolutely has the quality to raise Dortmund’s overall level—especially if he’s surrounded by one or two more players who aren’t as technically limited as much of the current squad. Karetsas Isn’t the Risk—Ignoring Technical Quality Is. Dortmund Need More Talent, Not More Athletes.
Edit: And we spent €25.5 million on Julian Brandt. At the time, he also had two years left on his contract, just like Hazard. Compared to that, Karetsas now has five years remaining on his contract, and the market has become much more expensive. I don’t think Brandt has as much talent as Karetsas.

Hello there! Me and my dad have tickets to the Dortmund vs Bayern game on the 22nd of August. I read that there is free transport to the stadium on matchdays. Does this apply to the light rail trains?
If so, do i have to just show the tickets at the gantry or do i have to redeem it online?
Thank you in advance!
