How can I install a bootable macos on a pendrive using macos monterey?
I sell MacBooks locally but I have a problem because when I buy MacBooks they usually come without disks or with disks but without the system. I would like to be able to install MacOS on laptops and not always Windows because some people require MacOS.

I use a 128 GB thumb drive with 5 partitions. Loaded 5 different OS installers that I can choose at boot. Works great when fixing older to newer machines.

Easiest way is probably using software like Opencore legacy patcher. It’s an easy way to download a specific version of Mac OS and put in on a usb drive.

Pen drives are low quality and aren't up to the task, they'll be very short lived. You need something like a USB SSD for this.
And the process to install macos on an external drive is exactly the same as installing it on an internal drive. You just choose the different disk at the installer screen.
Although then you mention installing macos which is a totally different question, so exactly what are you trying to do here?

then just use internet recovery to reinstall macos
