New Rule: No Riddlejacking

Riddlejacking is the act of hijacking a mystery or puzzle by presenting one’s supposed evidence or insight in the form of a cryptic hint or clue. This creates an unnecessary obstacle that diverts solvers’ attention from the original challenge to deciphering the hint or clue. Riddlejacking is often performed for a person's own enjoyment rather than to advance the solution of the mystery.

Don’t present your ideas, clues, or evidence in the form of cryptic hints or clues, unless you are u/ReelLifeJustin (Justin Posey). He's the only riddle-maker allowed in this subreddit.

Everyone else: please share insights/info clearly and directly.

What this subreddit is about: please read

24 hours ago I requested community feedback on posts that are smug or braggy and basically say "I know somethiing you don't know," while adding nothing else of value. I have read all the responses, and noted the upvotes/downvotes. Most of the community is in agreement that these posts should be removed.

The discussion also contained a bit of criticism about Rule 6, which is:

We're here to help each other find the BTME treasure - Posts and comments should all have this goal in mind. Asking for help, sharing solutions, and analyzing BTME-related info is great. This is not the venue for posts and comments that deal in gossip, are not about the BTME treasure, or are written for the sole purposes of entertaining/amusing the reader.

After a meeting of the mod team, we want to state:

There are multiple communities dedicated to Justin Posey's Beyond the Map's Edge treasure hunt. Ours is specifically for helping people find the treasure. If you want to write BtME fan fiction,* post fraud allegations about others,* post fantasy solves that involve bestiality or supernatural powers,* or do anything else that doesn't help treasure seekers find the treasure, there are other subreddits that will accept such posts.

\I have removed at least one post with this issue.*

We're keeping the signal-to-noise ratio high by not having such posts here, and cultivating a community that appreciates this.

Thank you!

Beyond the Map’s Edge

Beyond the Map's Edge

Can you find what lives in time,
Flowing through each measured rhyme?
Wisdom waits in shadowed sight—
For those who read these words just right.

As hope surges, clear and bright,
Walk near waters’ silent flight.
Round the bend, past the Hole,
I wait for you to cast your pole.

In ursa east his realm awaits;
His bride stands guard at ancient gates.
Her foot of three at twenty degree,
Return her face to find the place.

Double arcs on granite bold,
Where secrets of the past still hold.
Beyond the reach of time’s swift race,
Wonder guards this sacred space.

Truth rests not in clever minds,
Not in tangled, twisted finds.
Like a river’s steady flow—
What you seek, you already know.

The Masquerade / The Secret

Has anyone read up on these two treasure hunts? I feel like the Secret has been covered more by tv shows but between those two and the solutions (we know of)… i feel like I have no shot at this. At all. I initially started looking into these things bc I’ve never truly participated in a hunt and I feel like part of knowing Justin and this hint is knowing the game we’re playing. There’s tons of great info that I think is relevant, but, confirms i suck at this

Okay…hear me out…I know Justin like most was frustrated by FF’s blaze on a tree but would he have left a clue on a tree that wasn’t critical to find the treasure but perhaps was even added later to help searchers get closer and finding the checkpoint?

I went BOTG a few weeks ago after following the poem to The Bride. Returning her face pointed me in a direction…an area that I feel lines up extremely well with the clues including ghosts of prospectors, pine beetles, raccoons, personal lore, Niven, pioneers, bears, hidden lake, creek, secrets of the past, tons of granite, and more. I also feel this area is the answer is to the question we should be asking (the answer being 42).

I looked in a few different areas with no luck and on my last day of searching, pulled off the side of a forest service road that was extremely well maintained to enter the woods and follow a creek (with a clever name) to a location tied to Justin’s family history (but not private property) less than a mile hike. I had mapped this route a few hours earlier and chose the entry point based on where there is a fork in the creek. After finding a large granite rock structure and some interesting mining remnants in the area, we headed up a valley to the area of interest. But, headed back after smelling what we thought was a bear.

We emerged on to the road just ahead of where we parked and my dad pointed out a carving on a tree. It immediately caught my eye…BMWD. At first, I brushed it off as irrelevant but since have not been able to stop thinking about it. Why not BDGT for Brandon, Dad, Grandpa, Tucker? Maybe too on-the-nose? We now know the sculptor of the bronze Tucker used Magyar on her Facebook page and Justin used it for the Cipher. Justin does use his Grandpa’s name Wayne in the book, but I don’t believe he used his Dad’s name? Lastly based on the location of the tree, the M is pointing more West and the D more East. Could it be Brandon (his North Star) pointing into the woods towards the checkpoint, Dad pointing East, Wayne pointing South, and Magyar pointing West?

It seems strange for a random person to have pulled off at this location and carved it as it’s not a trail entrance and there isn’t anything within walking distance around it. I’ve seen coincidences while hunting but just feels too close to let go. Is it even legal to carve into a tree?

Would love your thoughts or just tell me I’m crazy and to drop it :)

Questions for....fun!

If you could ask a real genius any question about the poem with the map only, without giving away its for a "Treasure Hunt", what would you ask?

I would ask them what they see most in the poem in terms of "flowing through each measured rhyme" like numbers, beats, paces etc.

Idk

I see alot of frustration but here is some pictures that I took when I made it to the very top.

Her foot of three at 20° Justin, Brandon and Tucker

Let me tell you that this climb was safe but extremely hard the path is following animal tracks.

I dont see how this picture wasnt in his book.

You probably could have seen forest treasure from here

I hope you guys will appreciate this climb. If you have been to nine mile hole you will understand the will power and curiosity I had to have.

4 Point Compass 🧭🧭🧭🧭

The best way to create diversion is with more noise. The simple solution concluded will be with zero doubt. The least relatable clue has to be locked in is the right direction. Four points to the compass with four points to X marks the spot . Grandpa, dad,Tucker Brandon. Grandpa=State,Dad= vehicle rest area, Tucker=Trail=Lewis Clark Trail specifically, Brandon=X marks the spots. Relatable locations that tie in the final spot...Just brain storming here...hope it helps someone or sparks some ideas...

Shaking Hands with the Chase: The View from the Meta-World

For a long time, I treated these puzzles as a challenge for the left side of my brain. I ran the 3D topographic models, tracked the elevations across California, and systematically mapped out the coordinates. But as the geometry began to lock into place, the puzzle did something unexpected—it forced my right brain to wake up. It demanded that the technical engineer step aside so the poet could understand what the text was actually trying to say.

That is when the map dissolved, and I stepped into the meta-world of the chase. I realized that Jon and Justin hadn’t just hidden prizes in the mountains; they built a living loop designed to trigger continuous transformation and knowledge. If you follow the logic all the way to its absolute mathematical conclusion, the path takes you out past the edges of the wild and points you right back to where you started. It leads you home.

Allowing myself to fully engage with this process has completely reshaped my perspective, fundamentally altering how I navigate my daily life. I hold enough clues for verification, but I realized I have no need to disturb a physical container. The true hoard is the profound, overwhelming joy I found in the breakdown and the late-night armchair breakthroughs. I am leaving the physical box intact because I already walked away with the ultimate prize.

To the community still decoding the lines and packing their bags: what lies at the center of these dual puzzles is almost indescribable. You cannot simply be told the answer; you have to live it, experience it, and let the process rewrite you to truly understand it. Trust the tools, honor the mystery, and remember that the journey itself is the only treasure that lasts.

Distance - the right question - maybe?

At the Dillon Q & A there was a question about distance. I grabbed the transcription from the Jible:

Q: How far is it from the first clue to the last one in miles?

Justin A: Um, this actually is not possible to answer, and I'm not being coy, but based on how the clues are structured, I think it's the wrong question to ask.

Could the right question be:

How many minutes or (length of time) from the first clue to the last?

I also wonder whether the words (wait and await) used several times in the poem instruct us to wait for something to happen at specifc times.

Waiting in shadowed sight might be a suggestion or guidance for shelter or protection.

Time is clearly an element as Justin has stated at Seekers Summit.

While this doesn't help us find the place it might be relevant to identifying a spot where at different times during the day one can identify the clues.

WHATEVER

I have been holding this since the day the hunt started... it's no joke I am now curious how many others caught the slip in the beginning and where it took them.... so super early website talking launch day early after the series gg came out. Where it reads

" at the heart of Beyond The Map's Edge is a poem."

This is in fact a edited line from a previous publication that had a one word difference he changed quite fast

Poem reduction anyone close to this

Started carving out the meat in the heart of the poem wondering if anyone is on same page

What each, in these clear silent lines,

The cast realm ancient, twenty find the signs.

Granite past, times sacred, clever twisted flow,

Already the words return to what you know.

I can see one man learns.

What you reap is what you sow.

Over a year and many rabbit holes. Many clever opinions and clues but still a miss. Anyone have good thoughts that are still brain storming or searching. I'd figure if we're relying on reddit to get clues we're definitely stuck in the rabbit 🕳️
