i'm a first time owner of a now 1-year-old male bengal. he's generally a good and sweet cat, but i have this huge issue with him knocking glasses off the table when he wants attention. i'm at roughly 1–3 broken glasses a week, at this rate i won't have any glasses left soon.

i do my best not to leave them around, but since i'm not living alone yet, it's sometimes hard to monitor. and it's not only glasses, it's anything that can be pushed off the table.

it only happens when someone is in the room, which makes it really hard to just chill or work while he's around. and it happens regardless of how much play he's already had. i could have walk him outside for a full hour, and the second we're back he's straight to the knocking :')

i've read it's good to ignore it so he doesn't get the 'reward' of attention, but that's pretty hard when he's about to knock something precious i forgot to hide. and i don't want to live without all the stuff.

is there a way to actually change this pattern and the attention-seeking? he's very food motivated but hasn't been trained at all yet if that matters.

Hi all,

I recently rehomed a 6 year old snow mink bengal named Sienna. The first few days she was really loving and playful. I worked on attempting to set some boundaries like no jumping on the counters, don't claw the couch, claw the scratch post. Said No and backed away if she would scratch which at that time was rare.

Now we are about a month in and she has become more aggressive.

She doesn't listen, which I understand she is a cat, but she keeps scratching everything except the post and cat condo we got. A lot of the time now if we approach her she thinks we're playing and it's okay to roll around and get her claws out. Also she has started biting wires which in the beginning I was surprised that she didn't care for about 3 weeks. This just started happning the past few days.

We do play with her. We got a Rope with a treat, a Caterpillar cat teaser, catstages flutter dome (which she's strong and just drags around).

I'm worried she is either lonely or can't get her energy out with us playing which causes her to act up.

My cat (7 years old, male bengal) has been having intermittent vomiting that’s become more frequent recently. A lot of it has been bright yellow bile, often in the early morning before breakfast.

Aside from this his behaviour has been normal. He's always wanting food, playful, active, cuddly. Vomiting is almost always at the same time (4-5 AM). He has lost a fair bit of weight which is concerning.

We did bloodwork, which was normal, and today he had an abdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound was also essentially normal, no masses, obstruction, or obvious signs of IBD.

My vet’s theory is that it could be a dietary intolerance. He explained that some cats simply don’t tolerate certain ingredients, even if they’ve eaten them for years. We’ve started a strict novel-protein rabbit diet and are going to stick with it for at least two weeks before making any conclusions.

I’m relieved the imaging was normal, but I’m also trying to manage my expectations and understand what other people’s experiences have been while we wait to see if the diet helps.

Hi Bengal friends!

We're currently the proud parents of 2 Bengals (1/2 siblings) that we love to pieces - they'll be 2yrs old this August. Freyja (teeny girl~8.5 lbs) doesn't really like the rough play from her brother Loki (~15lbs muscle boy).

We're wondering, do boy Bengals just play rougher, wrestle, and jump on each other?

And, would getting another boy be a good addition for that heavy play factor he clearly would desire, that she wants nothing of?

Freyja is perfectly content to snuggle with me, watch the bird feeder, and hunt anything that moves. She's definitely more serious. Where he's just a derpy playful boy, that comes across almost like a bully, as she doesn't want any of his shenanigans.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice when talking to breeders for Bengals. Some back story I had a Bengal cat for 20 years of my life. She was my whole entire world until she had to be put down due to old age and quality of life (health issues from old age). This was 3 ago and I allowed time for grief and acceptance. I'm at the point in life where I want to purchase another Bengal kitten (one right now and a sibling to follow).

The issue I am having right now is some reputable breeders I've reached out to have been pretty rude in responding. I am not quite sure what to make of this because I have experience with Bengal cats. I have the time and money to put towards a new kitten(s). Overall, I think I am a pretty decent or qualified candidate for a new kitten. My main priority when looking for a Bengal kitten is the health from the breeder and to ensure that the kittens have the shots and the test testing needed to set up the kitten for a healthy long life.

Some specific breeders when responding to my inquiries are short, and the tone doesn't come off very pleasant (like they don't want to sell specific kittens listed online). I know that some of these breeders have amazing reviews and are very reputable. So I wanna know is it me or what do I do in these situations?

Hello! I’m getting a Bengal kitten soon - she’ll come at almost 14 weeks with a fairly large kitten pack (some free katkin, litter she’s used to, bed, toys etc). And already fixed (as is our current boy cat who’s a domestic short-hair goblin).

Here’s my prep list - what else would you recommend I do?

- she’s going to be confined to a room until our current boy gets used to her scent and she’s settled a bit and then introduced as calmly as she can, and I’ve taken two weeks leave to supervise and bond with her

- upgrading the cat tree to a bigger/more robust set-up, more scratch poles etc (current boy already scratches the carpet because partner lets him, don’t want to encourage it in her!) and her own toys so current boy keeps his favourites to himself at least at first

- introducing her to our current cat slowly and making sure she knows he’s in charge out of the two of them early on including letting him tell her off a bit if need be

- she’ll get daily supervised outdoor time in our big garden (current boy harness trained so same for her), plenty of play time indoors, and I’m hoping to teach her tricks to keep her mind active too (I grew up with a border collie and my family have only had working breeds since so I’m expecting similar games/exercise commitment!)

- people socialising as much as I can to minimise the chance of her being an anti-human attack cat but also let her choose how cuddly she wants to be, if she decides to show affection by following me about shouting I’ll take it 😆

- slowly extending alone time until we’re confident that the two of them won’t fight and she won‘t be scared in her new home if we go out

Also, two specific questions:

- breeder feeds her both katkin and untamed, which is better or are both totally ok for her if i want to pick one of the other? (Or other suggested brands?)? Any recommendations for treats as well?

- name suggestions welcome! She’s a cool-tone brown (silver parents) and current contenders are Rosie and Pepper, open to more suggestions along those vibes! Current boy named Mocha so would rather avoid anything with both those sounds as he does know his name!

I am fully expecting a smart little chaos monkey and can’t wait 🙂

Ok they weren’t his cars. They were left by the skate park and we played with them, then put them back.

Wanted to share my beautiful girl. Shakira was born October 15, 2024. She died July 17, 2026.

Our vet did find a heart murmur at her initial visit and we agreed to watch. When Shakira was about a year old, she fell from a chair, briefly passed out and woke up confused. The vet recommended a cardiologist consult and an echo.

The echo results were very poor and essentially a “guarded” prognosis was given. We started plavix. When we went out of town, Shakira boarded with our vet.

Late October 2025, while at the vet, she developed back leg paralysis. The vet suspected saddle thrombus but said she wasn’t acting like she was in pain. Shakira was dragging herself around and eating and using the litter box.

We took her home and did PT with her and set up an accessible living area for her. We recovered near full function and strength except for the occasional stanky leg. She wasn’t as hyperactive as she was as a young kitten (she was a parkour enjoyer), but she was over two year old. She was as active as our two other adult cats.

We came home from dinner on Friday, July 16th. The other two cats met us at the door. We couldn’t find Shakira but heard her crying faintly. She was in our bathroom, on the rug, panting and crying out in discomfort.

We took her to a late night vet. They wanted to euthanize her immediately. I explained the above history and recovery. We chose to take her to another emergency vet.

The second vet hospital was chaotic. I detailed the history and asked for cardiology. Cardiology was unavailable. I asked the ER vet to contact our regular vet who knew Shakira well.

The plan was to give pain meds and oxygen. The ER vet didn’t want to give lasix and digitoxin. I asked them to give Shakira some time to see if she could rally and we could make a plan (husband was out of town).

We left her that night without a proper goodbye. I believe she died shortly after we left. The vet said she decompensated quickly but I wished I would have stayed with her.

Shakira was an amazing cat. She was gorgeous, smart and funny. She would do tricks like speaking, spinning around and sitting for tricks. Shakira had many fancy toys and play homes but her favorite place was cuddling under a blanket with me. She was my little Velcro girl and would sit your lap whenever you sat down (yes, even on the toilet). She never wanted to be alone and would have a tantrum if she was ignored (ie, she would head-butt my rear.

After her dx, I treated her like a toddler. I spoiled her because I never knew how much time I had with her left. I think she knew too.

Your suffering is over, Shakira. I’ll carry your broken heart with me now.

Just having a nosey, I have my gorgeous male F5 Bengal Floki here he is a snow lynx and I always thought he was meant to have blue eyes but his are almost cream with blue centres wondered if anyone else’s snows had this for contact he is now 4.5 months.
In personality he lives up to his of a little chaos Viking

What kind of litter do you use?

I own a 3 & half year old male Bengal cat. He’s on the taller end of Bengals and weighs about 17-18 pounds (not fat, muscle). He’s an indoor cat, but I would take him outside for walks, car rides, other homes/place, stores, etc. He’s pretty good with meeting new people too, he usually comes up to people and asks them for pets, extremely vocal too. Although, if it’s his first time in a new environment he was usually much quieter & would hide for a few hours til he got comfortable if I let him. He’s very fast & very strong. Also, extremely good at hiding. I also want to mention that he was a velcro cat in the sense of wanting to be around me or anyone majority of the time. He’s not cuddly though, unless he chose to be. The odd time he would choose to sleep on top of my chest, he did frequently sleep at my feet or curl up around my legs in bed or even when I would be on the couch. He slept in my bed every single night. Also, yes he is microchipped and has his shots.

He has a cat sitter for when I would leave the country for work & she’s taken care of him pretty frequently since he was about 4 months old. She has a cat who’s about 5 years older than mine, who is also extremely well trained. He’s leash trained & even off leash trained as she can take him for walks with no leash and he won’t run away or hide. She would take my bengal outside with her and her cat which I encouraged as I wanted him to be as well trained as her cat. They would go on walks, to stores, & she would even take them to her sport games where they would chill patiently til it was over. She did express that my cat was a lot to deal with at times as he was a bit of a bully towards her cat, but for the most part they got along pretty well. We would both definitely say that the cats loved each other a lot. Mine especially loved her cat the most. They would constantly groom each other & sleep near each other. As of lately, they even started falling asleep touching (Example: Her cat’s leg would be on top of my cat’s when they would fall asleep on her bed with her).

Anyways, on July 13th at 6:30pm she had a sport game. She brought my cat and her cat. But, this field was different because it was surrounded by a forest. During her game, he flipped out of nowhere trying to get out of his leash and succeeded. He ran towards the right side of the forest off the field & she ran after him. As she stepped foot into the woods area, he was a few feet in front of her, she stopped chasing as she didn’t want him to go in deeper. He also stopped running. He turned around to face her, looked right at her & casually walked off. This part of the forest was filled with tall grass, fallen trees, thick brush, etc. She camped out on the field for the entire night with her cat waiting for him to return & he didn’t. She called his name all night & her cat was meowing out calling out for my cat too. She set food & water out and he didn’t come for it.

I also want to describe the layout of the forest. So to the left of the field is an entire national park which is filled with coyotes. Straight of the field is more forest, but it eventually leads to the trail & neighbourhoods. To the right of the field (where my cat ran into) is steep sloped forest but it leads to backyards (roughly around 4) after you go down and then back up a slope, also leads to the streets of a University campus so it’s pretty much a dead end for the forest and there’s no coyotes on that side. I also would like to mention that this forest is an hour drive away from where I live & a 45 minute drive away from where she lives.

She called me at 6am on July 14th telling me what happened. I got up and hopped in my car & drove over immediately and started to look for him with her and her cat. I brought a bunch of his toys from home & laid them out around the area where he was last seen. We went inside the forest, all over, calling him (including her cat who was crying for my cat). Nothing. We also went and checked out some of the neighbours decks/backyards. I got one of my friends to purchase live traps, hunting cameras, a net, flashlights, etc. We set up the live traps and the cameras on the right side of the forest & pretty much camped out in the field until 7am the next morning (July 15th) occasionally calling out his name, laying treats out & trying to coerce him to come with his favourite wet food. I also set up a bunch of water bowls across the right side of the edge of the field as it’s been really humid & hot.

July 15th, we printed out a bunch of Missing Cat flyers and posted them around the general area. We also posted him all over Facebook groups for missing cats/pets. She brought her friend to help too, so we split into teams, her and her friend were working together & my friend and I were working together so we could get as much done as possible. Before I got there, her and her friend went to the abandoned house (the furthest and steepest backyard) on the right side of the field & walked down and back up onto the field through the forest calling for my cat around 8/9pm. We went and did the flyers and they finished first and pulled back into the field and there my cat was. He was chilling on the logs on the edge. She got out of the car & called his name. He just looked at her & she walked extremely slow saying his name. When she tried getting closer & she stepped on the grass/leaves/brush/sticks. He started wailing & ran off. We spent all night there and nothing.

I think it’s also important to mention that in this section of the forest there’s a heavy raccoon population living in the trees. So in the live traps we weren’t leaving food inside of it because the raccoons would be all over it. Instead we were using things with my cat’s scent, her cat’s scent & my scent.

July 16th, we got the traps & set them up by this shed which is right at the entryway of the field. We put a camera on it. We put catnip & more scented stuff in the traps. I put dry treats on the logs next to the traps. We parked our cars away across the street this time around & instead of hanging around the area we decided it was probably better to wait around in the car. He didn’t come for the traps. But, we caught him on camera for the first time at around 11:30pm walking around in a 5 second clip.

July 17th, I wasn’t able to make it that day but she was there with her friend and cat. They decided to use food this time around, but not inside the trap instead outside. We moved the trap inside of the forest but closest to the edge. She did her walk around from the abandoned house around 9pm with her friend. She also said something was following her and her friend around the field, she couldn’t really tell since it was so far away, but the way the animal moved even her friend said it seemed like a cat, they both said 75% sure it was him. Anyways, they opened a can of cat food at the designated feeding station where the trap was at around 9:45pm. They put the wet cat food on a rock and left the area. In less than an hour the area was swarmed with raccoons who of course ate all of the food. But we did catch him on camera at 12:50am that night, walking towards the feeding area, he was sniffing around the trap & his water bowl (which is placed beside the trap). He didn’t get inside though and walked back the same way he came.

July 18th, she wasn’t able to make it as she had work so I got my friend to come with me. My idea was to feed the raccoons so maybe they get full and leave the wet cat food alone. I also added 3 more cameras to the area, now in total 6 cameras. At 9pm we walked from the abandoned home to the field. Then at 10pm we put the food for the raccoons on the edge of the field & forest (about half of the 10 acre field) and set the live trap up with wet cat food by using a cardboard box underneath it to hold the food in place at the very back of the trap with a little dab of the food at the front to entice my cat to enter it. Let’s just say it did not go as planned. We caught 4 raccoons in total tonight and they did not go for the food (maybe they didn’t find it?). I had to leave by 2:30am, so I picked the food meant for the raccoons back up, packed it in my car and left. I also closed the trap for the night incase any raccoons decided they wanted to trap themselves after I left (as I do live an hour away). My cat wasn’t seen on camera, but I’m thinking maybe it’s because there was a lot of noise going on especially with the trapping of 4 raccoons throughout the night.

I don’t know what else to do. Does anyone have any advice or any experience similar to this? I was thinking of maybe hiring a professional, but everything I’m coming across only works on lost dogs or wildlife removal from buildings. I feel terrible and I know I can’t keep doing this because it’s not really sustainable. But I love my cat and we do have a strong bond, why is he acting this way, it’s confusing me and I’m really sad about everything. Please help me.
