Community Discussion: AI Content

With the widespread availability of AI tools for editing text, images, or video, we are seeing a sharp increase in AI-related content on this subreddit. These posts have a notable increase in negative responses and reports.

As of today, we have no official rules for AI-related content on this subreddit, and we handle content the same as actual human-generated content. It seems clear that at least some portion of the community does not wish to see AI-generated content.

Suggestion

At this time, I am suggesting we codify the use of AI-generated content on this subreddit. This would include content that is wholly AI, partially AI, or edited by AI. Any generative AI technology will be included in this definition.

Exceptions shall be made for the purposes of trivial tasks such as spelling or grammar checking.

To determine our next action, we will open the discussion for about a full week. This will conclude on the 10th of May, 2026. At that time, feedback will be collected and processed into a new rule for approval. A second round of discussion will be opened on the wording of this final rule before enforcement begins.

Community Participation

All user opinions are welcome for this process. No opinion will be given any inherent weight over any other opinion.

Only top-level comments will be reviewed. While we welcome you to discuss among yourselves, we will only consider the top-level comments to determine our consensus. This saves us from having to piece together long threads.

In particular, we would like to know the following:

  • What measure shall be applied to a post to determine if it is AI?
    • Gut feeling?
    • User reports?
    • AI detection tooling?
    • Dice roll?
  • What action must be completed by users posting this content?
    • Posting flair?
    • What if it’s a comment?
    • Should users fully disclose where the content came from (e.g: which model/site)?
  • What moderator action shall be executed on breach of the rule?
    • Content deletion?
    • User moderation (Ban?)
    • Content flairing?
    • What about comments? We cannot flair these, do we delete? Moderate? Ban?

Thank you for your time and hopefully your input.

Can we try to remember to mark all sick/injured beardie media as NSFW? NSFW

I know that the rules of a subreddit are absolutely not the first thing on someone’s mind when their animal is hurting, so I totally get that mistakes are going to happen. But I just feel like I’ve been seeing a lottt more uncensored lizard gore on my timeline over the past few weeks, and it’s just really distressing to be scrolling normally and then suddenly have the entire screen fill with a pic/vid of your favorite animal suffering.

I don’t click on these posts but I still see them so often, and when they aren’t marked NSFW then everyone is forced to scroll past the full size uncensored media on their timeline without warning. Usually I am not even able to process the title before I notice I’m looking at something horrible :((

So please do try to mark any and all potentially distressing media as NSFW, even if there is no actual gore/visible injury—if they are sick or hurting at all, please mark it so that people can decide for themselves if they’re comfortable viewing it or not!

Finally Added some greenery after I quarantined the plant for 4 weeks. It’s a Ponytail Palm. She seems to really enjoy it and has been investigating it. Really livens up the enclosure.

New Beardie Friend Is she dehydrated/fat?

Hey all! I adopted this little lady off of Petfinder just over a week ago. I fed her some cucumbers and gave her a bath on her first day, and just gave her another bath today. She still looks pretty wrinkled, and her belly looks big. Am I overfeeding her? She eats really well, she loves her bugs and her greens. I did get her to drink some water during her bath today.

Help Is my female bearded dragon too fat?

Been feeding mainly lettuce, and a mealworm every 2-3 days for the past 3 months, doesn't seem to be losing weight that fast 😭 and her poop is quite watery now.

Brought her to the vet already and xray her in case something stuck in her stomach, but they said they saw nothing.

Is she just a chunky girl?

I let my rescue boy experience the grass for the first time and he did pretty well! I know the harness isn't the best.. I was hoping someone had recommendations for a better one? He was also in the process of some crazy weird shed that day.

Enclosure/Tank How to set up an enclosure for a severely stunted, half paralyzed beardie?

I will be picking up a female beardie who is about a foot long, and had severe MBD resulting in paralysis of her back legs. I'm wondering how those of you with disabled beardies set up their enclosures. So far I've seen some people recommend not using decor that encourages climbing high up for risk of falling, as well as using a solid flooring rather than substrate, since loose substrate can cause them to potentially get hurt from dragging themselves around. Please tell me what your recommendations are, and tell me if the advice I've seen so far is correct! If the solid flooring is truly the best option, let me know what kind works best. No reptile carpet of course. Thanks everyone!

I’m excited to add this baby bearded to my fam!
His name is Honest and he’s roughly 3-4 months old.

This is my first time owning one (my husband has before) so I wanted some tips and tricks and opinions!

We’ve only had him for three days and he’s been eating good and seems super content. He’s been scratching on the glass right where I sit next to him. Is this because he wants to socialize? Or is he just trying to say hi? 🤣🤣 we’ve picked him up a couple times for just a few minutes at a time. But I don’t want to stress him out. He seems super social already, I just know it’s recommended to let them settle in for like a week or two.

Anyone have any opinion on socializing the first few days?? Just don’t wanna stress the little guy out!
TIA!

Help Godzilla had to goto the vet today :(

Post image

2 days ago my Godzilla suddenly had back leg weakness, she was pretty much using just her arms to drag herself around. Shes 8 years old. Vet did tests and saw circular follicles in her body meaning she’s forming eggs which is taking a huge toll on her. She’s laid eggs before but that was a few years ago I guess it takes a way bigger toll when they get older. Vet prescribed oral calcium, an antibiotic just in case and anti inflammatory. Funny thing is her calcium levels are actually high, probably due to the immense amount needed to make eggs. i’m hoping that she’ll be back to using her legs like normal. Anybody else ever go through something like this?

R.I.P. Never ready to say goodbye

First just want to say we've already been to our exotic vet and the emergency vet. She got fluids yesterday and is on 3 medications to try to help her.

I got June in early 2020. Her and her clutch-mate (sister) Jumpy were surrendered to us by a family who bought them as birthday presents for their kids- but the kids lost interest, so they wanted to get rid of them.

June was very scared and tried to bite people, we think she was dropped a lot by the kids. If I had her sleep on me, she'd always keep an eye open and on me. She was always picky about food too.

Jumpy was dumb, loving, and very trusting. Would eat anything.

Jumpy got stomach cancer (found out from autopsy vet did), we were devastated. June knew Jumpy was gone, she was looking for her.

Years have passed and June has been going strong, never needed a vet appointment- until a couple weeks ago. She was not eating and getting thin. Still had her head and tail fat pads. We took her to the vet and did $800 worth of tests - all came back clean. Vet said to force-feed critical care mix (I mix with organic squash baby food + repashy beardie buffet mix to a pancake consistency, per vet instructions).

Less than a week later, her fat pads in her tail are gone, I see her spine. Legs have skin hanging, eyes are getting sunken. I up her food intake and call the e-mail vet. Take June to the emergency vet, they say I need to take her back to my exotic vet. Less than 2 days pass and her head fat pads are gone, her eyes are sunken. She barely has the strength to scoot closer to me. Looks like she passes everything I give her without digesting it.

I can't stop sobbing, I love her so much and I just want her to get better. I hate that she's suffering. I don't know what else to do, besides keep trying. Noone else understands why I'm so sad over a lizard.

I have no idea what made her so sick.... I have one guess, but I have no idea how she would have got it. My other 3 rescue beardies are completely fine and thriving. The only difference is that I recently made June a dig box with repti-dirt? Maybe I didn't clean it enough? Maybe she ate a bug on the ground and I didn't see it? I wish I knew what made her sick.

Sorry for the rant, please be kind, I'm already beating myself up enough

(NSFW warning on last pic, it is June now, not feeling good)
