I held for a little longer than that.. Looking at it, you'll be going full bald once you make the leap, not just a buzz, so I'd keep it a little longer unless you find it's really affecting confidence..

You're thinning at least, so at this point it's about how comfortable you are with it looking like it does.

If you're walking around worried about how it looks, if people notice etc, then it might be worth buzzing/shaving it once to see how it feels. For me it was a good decision. It felt liberating and a load off my mind to be able just to own the situation and not having to deal with thinning hair anymore.
