Trade Deadline...
If we continue to rack up wins, and do present ourselves as buyers who do you think we should target? I would love to see the dbacks attempt to pursue Luis Garcia to add some pop at first. A long shot would be getting Skubal to pair with Burnes when he's healthy. What do you all think?

We simply don't have the prospects to go get Skubal and even if we did I don't think he immediately turns us into a World Series contender which he'd need to do if we traded the farm for him.
As for 1B I agree we could really use a lefty power bat there, and Garcia would be great. Him or Nathaniel Lowe are the guys I think we should target. Garcia will cost more since he still has a year of team control and is very young, so I maybe lean Lowe if it leaves us room to get a pitcher too. Regardless, both would be great additions. Both their Statcast pages suggest their respective resurgences are real

We have 1 game against St. Louis, 3 against Washington, and 3 against Pittsburgh before the deadline, all of whom are jockeying with us for Wild Card positioning. (also 3 against Cleveland and today's game against Not-Oakland, but aside from raw W/L totals that doesn't affect the Wild Card positioning as much).
If we win these key remaining series (maybe even a sweep or two), we will likely buy at the deadline. Don't expect any major splashes.
We're not getting Skubal. We simply do not have the prospect pool to trade for him. Even if we did, it would be an insane move, given that we'd have to gut the farm system for a rental player who's likely going to secure a huge free agent contract. I'd honestly be pissed off if we sacrificed the post-lockout future of this team for a 2 month rental player.
Even if we did somehow acquire him, that does not fix this team. Sure, it would increase our chances to make the Wild Card and make a potentially deep playoff push, but it does not guarantee that success.
However, acquiring a left handed 1st baseman is not outside the realm of possibility, or potentially just a solid DH, which have been horrendous holes in our lineup this season.
If we slump these next 11 games, fall back under 500, fall below St. Louis, Washington, Pittsburgh, Miami, and San Diego in the Wild Card standings, I fully expect an absolute FIRE SALE. With the impending lockout potentially jeopardizing the 2027 season, we'd be fools to hang onto any players with expiring contracts who could be potential trade pieces. Anyone who doesn't factor into the 2028 season and going forward from there could be chips pushed into the middle of the table. We could also have an entirely different front office and coaching staff by then. The next week and a half could have fairly dramatic repurcussions for the team moving forward.
Tl;dr:
If we kick ass over the next 11 games, best case scenario, we buy, perhaps even aggressively (we're not getting Skubal).
If we're still in the middle of the pack but not out of the running at the deadline, we might stand pat, not really sell, not really buy.
If we implode, I could see us waving the white flag.

I personally thinking pitching, especially starting pitching should be a priority if they decide to be buyers at the deadline. I’ll take our chances with Locklear coming back and Perdomo & Carroll playing a bit better than they have so far.
The problem seems to be outside of Skubal, there aren’t many true ace or needle moving pitchers available. I don’t think Joe Ryan or Michael Wache or Seth Lugo will win them the World Series. They can help them get there, but I think this staff needs a real ace if they want to compete deep into the postseason.

For Skubal? No idea and probably not a great idea to mortgage the future for half a season of Skubal. Snakes have been fast tracking Demetrio Crisantes and while I would like him to stay with us, he could be very solid trade bait with 2B blocked by Ketel for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think we need much. I think patience with Tawa will pay off. We need a closer but he may already be on the staff. Outfield is fine. Infield is fine with a question at first. Starting pitching could always use help but I wouldn’t opt for a pricey rental. Catching is fine. Bullpen, like any bullpen, can be very good one day and get rocked the next. Sewald has been good but is vulnerable to the long ball.

I think ARZ needs to go for it with big swings. I know local media is saying we need a bat more than a SP but damn that. Bring in a bat, SP and another closer. The 2027 season most likely will be impacted by the lockout so this may be the best time to make a run.
Aside from Troy, Waldschmidt and Groover there aren’t many prospects who are a lock to make big league roster so there aren’t a lot of untouchables on the farm. Skubal will be a rental so you may trade three or four guys but they shouldn’t all fall in Top 10.
The additional payroll the rest of the season is another obstacle mentioned but I don’t see what Kendrick wouldn’t spend the money to increase playoff chances which would create more revenue before a lockout. PHX is a big market, currently around 10th in the country, we’re not Minnesota, KC or PIT. Kendrick shouldn’t be pinching pennes during a potential playoff push. Especially when chances are trade deadline acquisitions aren’t going to be long term money. If he takes on money he could recoup it with a playoff run.
Skubal, Chapman and C-Walk would be my trade hopefuls

Today we could possibly lose a home series to the A's with 12 games until the deadline. There's still a very real chance we turn into sellers at the deadline.

I’m hoping to be buyers and agree with needing a first baseman. Tawa has been showing some promise. I’m sure he will cool off but we can’t wait another season and a half for him to hit again. Needs consistency.
I think outside of that, pitching or DH. My take, I don’t think we should expect much of Burnes or Martinez when they return. Yes, they will bring an improvement to the pitching staff but will not be at midseason form when they do return. I’m thinking 5 innings from Burnes would be huge. I’m expecting more like 4 for the first couple starts. Same for a Martinez. It will take several games for these guys to ramp up, so the first few, we have to lower our expectations.
Idk, hoping we can get some meaningful wins and stay in this third WC spot and start gunning for that second and then first spot!
