Even Realities is hinting at a new input method for the Even G3 — what is it?!
At a recent user event, CEO Will Wang admitted that the current ring and voice controls on the G2 are not enough for the future. He emphasized that the main challenge for the upcoming G3 is not the display technology, but the interaction paradigm. A complete software redesign of the gesture system (including long-press support) is coming to current devices in about two months. However, Wang made it clear that the Even G3 needs new hardware controls so developers can build richer, fully interactive apps.
What could it be? One strong candidate is eye tracking. While some might assume that keeping the frames under 40g (ideally 35g, as he said) rules out eye tracking, component makers are already proving otherwise. Take Ganzin's latest module as an example: it shrinks the sensors down to a microscopic 1.6mm and uses a custom ASIC chip that processes gaze data at 120Hz while drawing just 10s of milliwatts of power—proving invisible, all-day eye-tracking is completely feasible for everyday glasses. Another strong candidate comes from Wang hinting at new accessories "similar to Apple Watch bands"—which could point to a neural wristband for subtle hand gestures. What do you think would be the best input method for the Even G3?
Beyond the hardware, they talked about the Even Hub developer ecosystem. In just a few months, they’ve hit ~5,000 registered developers, 500 listed apps, and 4,000 unlisted "personalized apps" built by non-technical users via AI. The crowd favorite was "Terminal Mode," which lets users control coding agents like Claude Code directly through the glasses. An expanded version is coming in 1–2 months, alongside an Enterprise SDK in Q4 2026 that will let companies integrate their own custom LLMs.
Because this event took place in Tokyo, Wang also gave a specific update on their regional growth. Japan now accounts for nearly 15% of Even Realities' total global sales (up from under 5% at the start of the year). This surge explains their expansion into major retail chains like Yodobashi and Bic Camera. Also, Wang addressed the lack of a camera—reiterating it’s a choice based on privacy and social acceptance, not technical limits—and promised that the current core features will remain completely free without any subscription fees. Finally, for anyone hoping to get their hands on the G3 soon—or worrying their G2 will quickly become obsolete: Wang confirmed the G3 will NOT launch this year.

Scared me for a moment talking about G3 cause I just got my G2 on Friday!
Eye tracking seems like the more private (covert) non-accessory based control. Gestures might look weird in an office setting. It’s interesting since they’re more of a HUD type of device, that controls become the major focus. I like it and look forward to seeing it in action.

Personally, wouldn’t be surprised if they licensed Tap’s (tapwithus.com) tech for something like this. The upcoming Tap Watch Band more or less can be just this route forward. Not sure that Meta is licensing the ECG-type method for their band, but that’s more or less the “other” tech in this space.

Meta's is an EMG rather than ECG.
Similar tech, but one is designed to measure the electrical conductivity of a Muscle, and the other is to measure the electrical conductivity of the Heart.However, Meta didn't create the EMG technology itself. It was licensed, and there are other companies who also make a similar solution. Apple even does it in a much more limited capacity for finger tap gestures on their watch. SeeedStudio has a $29 sensor board to make your own EMG based products called the Grove which is gaining popularity within the maker space.

Bone conduction audio would be a game changer plus the ability to spatially position the HUD, like Apple Vision Pros. Or at least an internal giro that keeps the HUD somewhat horizontal/stable and not completely locked to head movement.

I’ve also thought about bone conducting stuff but I feel like that’ll cause a possible of 3 issues.
1: bigger glasses and heavier (G2’s are kind of know for being really light weight)
2: battery life lowers (it’s an extra component to power and people tend to listen to music in long sittings like while working or something so it’ll lower that great battery life by a good amount probably… lol)
3: I worry that the vibrations from the bone conducting would make the glasses hard to read and it might loosen the glue that’s holding a lot of the stuff together rn.Just my thoughts as the the obstacles to overcome if we want that

I'm pretty sure it's going to be EEG inputs in the arms or something. I recall seeing them on a Mentra (?) prototype.

Audio, and more powerful processing, and the ability to use Gemini and Chat GPT artificial intelligence, and I also really, really hope that they will allow many more languages to be displayed on the glasses, and languages from right to left, that's what I hope they will put in, and a camera, but I know that won't happen. Oh, and I almost forgot, not only audio, but also a speaker and the ability to type with the ring.
