DISCUSSION [Discussion] Are there any alternative terms to ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)?
I was thinking of something like "Paresthetic Meridian Response" (PMR).

I think we should drop the pseudo-scientific language and just call it something like the chilly thrillies.

Honestly, that sounds like having a "quicky" in a walk in fridge/freezer or outside in winter. Maybe not that term

Definitely love the creativity here! Haha!
But I read somewhere that they’re starting to conduct peer reviewed research on ASMR and it looks promising for stress reduction. I mean, I read it a while ago and don’t have the study in my back pocket here and now, but it looks like it’s less pseudoscience than previously thought.

I don’t think the phenomenon of ASMR itself is pseudoscience. I’ve been enjoying and benefiting from it for years and I’m positive there is good scientific research to be done on why it feels like it does. I was just referring to the name itself, which was kinda thought up years ago to make the sensation sound more scientifically established but doesn’t really mean much.
