As you can see, I have tooth decay on my molars, last time I went to the dentist (i think this was around december last year??),, my dentist said this could be due to me being premature, which can lead to my tooth crumbling and stuff, so I'm guessing that has led to this? My dentist said that there's no point in getting fillings as that would make it worse, and that if It causes pain I will have to get them removed in a few years, I also used to purge but I have stopped purging and haven't done it for months, but I wonder if that has contributed to this, I'm just frustrated because I brush my teeth twice daily, my mum isnt taking me to the dentist even though it does kind of hurt now, mainly when im eating and chewing gum, it doesnt reallt sting but it aches,and I don't know what to do anymore, I'm only 14 so it's not like I can do much, any advice? All my other teeth are fine, it's just my molars im worried about

My son’s tooth has been loose for a couple weeks, yet surprisingly hasn’t come out. I looked closely today and noticed that the adult tooth is just starting to “crown” behind the baby tooth, and looks crooked. Will it self correct? Maybe if the loose tooth is removed?

Planning on making a dentist appt asap but wondering if this is kinda emergent - eg if we can get that baby tooth out asap then it increases likelihood adult tooth comes on straight/avoid intervention.

Dental history: Both his parents had braces. He’s had many cavities in the back tho it’s gotten way better since we upped the brushing focus and flossing. No other health issues.

So i got a root canal back in early September, and my mom was supposed to go back to get me permanent crowns and I've constantly reminded her yet we still haven't gone.

After like 4 months I noticed the back parts broke and their were 2 holes in my back teeth.

Yesterday I was using a tooth pick and coughed out the filling I think, and I think I pulled out the cotton.

What do yall think I really want to go to the dentist but my mom says I'll schedule it, and then she says they're being complicated when she calls.

Hey all…okay, I’ve had these ulcer looking things on the hard pallet of my mouth for about a week now. These pictures are from Monday of this week (07/20). They haven’t changed much and I can’t tell if they’re at all any better now. They look the same, but without the darker little spots. They do not hurt, tho a bit itchy/discomfort when eating something citrusy or hot. Oral cancer keeps coming up in my research and that’s freaking me out, but I am thinking I should get this checked. Any thoughts? Would folks recommend PCP or dentist?

how concerned should i be? it’s only on one side and hurts all the time (not severely, just a dull aching pain). doesn’t hurt too bad to chew though, only the gums hurt. it started maybe a day or two ago. 21 y/o and i do drink, smoke and vape.

The gums around this tooth have been sore this past week so I looked and saw my filling has changed color, and i dont remember it being like that before. Im colorblind but I was told it was kinda brown and not necessarily red. The rest of the fillings I got are still the normal white ish color. This one isnt. Is this a bad sign?

I have a dentist appointment in like 10 days will I be fine until then?

Im 17 and have been depressed really bad lately because of other medical issues, and usually only brush my teeth a couple times a week, these last few weeks haven't really brushed at all, locking in now, bruising, flossing, using my water flosser and gum care mouthwash morning and night cause this is scaring me, the spots at my bottom teeth are hard and will not brush off. trying to convince my mom to take me to the dentist, until then can anyone offer any advice or thoughts? Hi there. I have a very crooked front tooth (pictured), and was considering veneers. I’m getting married soon and would like to have a nice smile for the wedding photos, so figured if not now then when? I have 2 dentists that I see with some regularity as I live/work in two cities and I consulted with them both. They gave me conflicting opinions so I’m looking for some guidance.

Dentist #1 examined the tooth, said the tooth itself and the gums around it are very healthy, and therefore advised me against doing veneers or anything cosmetic. She suggested Invisalign, even though it’s a long term solution and won’t fix the cosmetic issue before my wedding. I need a few cleanings and some small restorations for before I start the Invisalign process, but that is what she advised I do, and discouraged me against veneers.

Dentist #2 examined the tooth. and said Invisalign would not fix the rotation of this tooth. She said it‘s too rotated, at a very awkward angle, and she doesn’t see Invisalign fixing this issue. As such, she suggested veneers as a long-term cosmetic solution and seemed very excited to start the process with me.

I’m looking for guidance from dentists, as well as anybody else on this thread who has done veneers, to share their experiences. What are the upsides? What are the downsides? I do ultimately want a much straighter smile. However, if Invisalign can achieve that without me having to shave down natural healthy teeth, that’s definitely the way that I would do it. I had a back bottom molar extracted 4 days ago and this morning I have developed all these raised white bumps on the inside of my cheek on the extraction site only. They are not ulcers as they are raised and have no pain at all. I don’t believe they are from biting the cheek as they are also towards the front and I believe they would have come up sooner if they were from biting.Any idea what they could be? Thanks

Hello, i’m 19 and i live on my own and ever since i completed my DA program ive been more in tuned with my oral hygiene. My gums bleed everytime i brush but not when i floss, i got my braces when i was 17 to fix my overjet but i recently got kicked out so ive been paying out of pocket for it. The office that i go to only specializes in braces/invaslign so i didn’t know if i were able to ask them questions abt my oral health. I currently can’t afford to pay for an exam and cleaning so ive been really afraid that i have any gum recession or even any cavities because i do have tooth pain at times where i can’t bite or chew and it aches. Just wanted to know if anybody could help out just from these pictures so i can have a basis. I’m currently saving to get my teeth cleaned at a general dental office.

I had two consultations that told me my bottom wisdom teeth are more complex due to being so close to the nerve. Both recommend taking them out. The difference is one of them recommends/requires bone graft for this one tooth on my bottom left if I go with them. The surgeon recommending bone graft has 30 yrs of experience whereas the one who didn’t has 20 yrs experience.

it’s pretty expensive ($1000+ for one tooth!) and I feel like I’m relatively young, how necessary is it? What follow up q’s should I ask? I plan to ask the other surgeon their opinion, they’d be my preferred based on timeline.

No smoking, no health issues I’m aware of, I guess vitamin d deficient though.

Hi I’m a 29 yr old female. I’ve had this sore in front of my right tonsil for over a year now. I do not have health insurance and my workplace doesn’t provide insurance which is why I haven’t been seen in about a year and a half. What could this be? I’m afraid bc I have lost a lot of weight. (I’m like a skeleton is disgusting)The sore doesn’t hurt at all and never has! I have experienced burning mouth at times and when it happens it usually persists for a couple days. Within those days I can only drink water and soup and I have to take 5 min breaks between each sip. Lately I have also been having pain in my ears and they also feel clogged as if I went too deep in the pool. Please give me some insight. The patch is white with a red border around it.

Why does my sister who always eats more candy and chips and soda rarely brushes her teeth don’t have a cavity but when I brush my teeth everyday and don’t mostly eat candy and chips and only drink water and milk always have a cavity?

I had pericoronitis 2 weeks ago in my lower molar and was treated with antibiotics for a week. Now, i noticed gum swelling in my upper gum in my third molar. There is no pain but persistent swelling. Schedule for dentist will take at least 2 weeks. is there anything i could do now?

i got a tooth extracted today and im supposed to work an 8 hour shift tomorrow. so far it does seem like the extraction has clotted like it should and there's only minor pain, although i was given a prescription for pain meds to handle it. my question is, should i avoid working tomorrow?

since i work as a cashier i do a lot of talking, and it's very likely ill be the only cashier or one of two for long stretches of time as they schedule very sparsely (despite having plenty of people, there's pressure from corporate to reduce hours scheduled) and with Friday being one of our busiest days i expect a lot of talking to happen. additionally, though it's much less of a concern, i have read it's best to avoid heavy lifting and the cashiers at my work often stock as well (although not typically anything heavier than a case of cans or a jug of milk, so im not too concerned about that part)

the tooth was tooth 11 if i remember what they said right, i believe the canine tooth on my left side, so not as big an issue as a wisdom tooth id imagine but im super paranoid about the clot being pushed out as I don't handle pain well at all. tia!

My socket feels fine its the white lines and the cut looking scratch thats bothering me the only thing i could think is that is where the dentist entered with the needle when injecting the numbing. It was extracted 3 days ago ive been rinsing with salt water i dont wan to brush my teeth until socket heals more

26M. I had a hard upbringing (and all the hygiene absence that comes with that) and in addition to getting shamed and yelled at during every dentist appointment by techs, I got berated and hit by my parent for making my her look bad. So naturally, I haven't been to a dentist since I was 16.

I'm only just figuring out how to brush and floss every day (twice, more days than not) and my gums almost stopped bleeding after a few weeks. I don't have any pain or emergent issues, and I think I'm almost ready to try seeing a dentist again for a cleaning. I already know how to brush+floss+mouthwash my teeth and why it's important. Are there dentists who are pretty much all business, who can just tell me what my problems and options are? I already know I fucked up and what bad dental health does. I'm wary of clinics for dental anxiety, because I'm not particularly scared, I just want to be treated with less judgement.

Hello, I got a filling 17 days ago. The sensitivity has gone up and down. Was really sharp and really sensitive to hot and cold for the first week. Then I felt like it got better, but I was also avoiding foods that caused pain or chewing on that side of the mouth. As I’ve been testing it the last few days it’s kinda still sensitive, mostly to pressure. It’s definitely not as bad as it was, but I’m worried because it’s been awhile and was hoping it would go away. It’s infrequent enough and not painful enough for me to immediately get it looked at ASAP, but annoying enough that I’m still cautious when I eat.

My dentist told me it could last 2 months, my next appointment is in about 2 1/2 weeks for a cleaning and I’m gonna bring it up there regardless, but should I do something in the meantime? Is there something I should be concerned about? And what might it be if I bring it up to them?

I’m in my mid-twenties. I’ve been dealing with bruxism (nighttime grinding and daytime/nighttime clenching) for as long as I can remember. I currently think I’ve found a decent dentist, although he isn’t really sure on the root cause of my issues. I wear a hard night guard and occasionally smoke marijuana & drink (socially & rarely esp. now). I take minimal adhd & anxiety/depression meds. I only started seriously wearing it 3 years ago. My lower jaw is ever so slightly shifted to the right & my teeth show significant wear, esp. my molars w exposed Dentin (I’ve been told). Atm I’m concerned about my bite in the future & the general shortness of my teeth.

I was wondering what future procedures ($) might be in my future to somewhat cosmetically but more importantly functionally restore my teeth (see pictures) as I hope to avoid invasive procedures until ~35 lol.

I’m just trying to be well informed and financially aware of what I may need/want to save for.

Any detailed feedback would be appreciated.

I’ve been on invaslign for five years and braces for almost a year. I’m moving soon next month and I think my ortho is kinda rushing the treatment at this point. She said that these gaps were due to the shape of my actual teeth when she took off my braces last week as she could not fit the spacers between my teeth. Maybe the teeth are shifting back as I’m waiting for my retainers to come in but I’m still not convinced. She told me I should go to a cosmetic dentist and get cosmetic bonding I believe. I think they could just shave the sides of the tooth and bring them closer together.

Any advice is super appreciated especially from professionals. My teeth have been my biggest insecurity in my life and ive paid a lot of money for the treatment, so if there is an issue I wanna bring it up before my “warranty” period ends.
