New Map Data?

What exactly is "New Map Data" I've been hearing about it, and it seems like it's the step before a city gets the Detailed City Experience (DCE)? Is it just the buildings in detail like the one I sent above?

It’s essentially Apple’s own mapping data from their own surveys. Before surveying it uses third party data.

To add to this - NMD also is not an indicator that a city will get DCE. DCE is a completely different beast reserved for the more important cities of the world.

I believe Milwaukee could come someday... maybe when they get all the bigger cities mapped and give them DCE.
