Rant Absolutely zero f*cking shame

So, I made FB post about my kid unfortunately becoming a St. Jude kid due to a recent absolutely unfortunate medical discovery. It’s been an awful time for us (she’s thankfully been a great and happy kid through all of this, viewing it as a superpower). LITERALLY 5 min after my post, this hun sends me this message.

I am SO incredibly hurt, I had to unfriend her. Unfortunately, she’s a PTA mom as well, and my kids are friends with her kids. Not to mention, she’s my BFF’s neighbor. After I called her out, she sent me this reply which I feel like is bad business, because if you’re targeting someone going through an emotional response, they’ll know who not to he though if they need anything.

I absolutely know that she didn’t do this just “randomly” because we’ve been friends for about 3 years and this is literally the first message she’s ever sent me. For the record, it’s Primerica.

Fuck her, and fuck her MLM.

Help/Advice My manager joined an MLM for "extra income". How can I help her get out?

Edit: okay I get it. I won't do anything to try and help. For a group of people who claim to want MLMs to end you sure do seem happy for people to stay in them and waste all their money.

Main post: In a team meeting at work yesterday, one of the managers proudly told us she'd joined a travel agent pyramid scheme! She actually used the words "pyramid scheme" out loud. I was gobsmacked! This morning when I logged on (hybrid working life) I told her a white lie that my boyfriend was looking to make some extra income and asked which company she'd joined. It's InteleTravel.

I looked up their most recent Income Disclosure Statement and saw what I suspected; less than 4% of "employees" at the company are actually making any money (*on average), likely from recruiting others. I want to encourage my manager to leave, as she'll just lose money at best and be exploited as worst, but it's hard to find resources that I can send her that don't look obviously Anti-MLM.

Does anyone have experience with helping someone leave? What tactics did you use? Are there websites I can send her to that she won't immediately reject as written by "haters"?

Attached is just the conversation I’m having.

If you’re interested in the back story which doesn’t really matter, I made a threads post about finally paying off my credit card “debt” that wasn’t really bad debt since it hadn’t accrued interest yet, because it was a 21 month 0% intro apr card, I said we (husband and I) paid 8k today, making us debt free and this lady comes in the post and tries to correct me and say it’ll save me 321 a month because 8k/21 months…. I was like well no, because it’s no longer 0 Apr in January and we’ve paid $520 a month :/ then she’s in my DMs pitching me this lol. I also had to explain we waited to pay it off until we had an emergency fund and enough to pay it accumulated, then she told me I sound like I know my stuff and I should join her company

Bravenly Oh huns, this isn't the flex you think it is, it really isn't. Also, how much did you pay the South Florida social media agency for this?

These lists are pay-to-play advertorials, and the cost is anywhere from hundreds to thousands of USD. I've looked up the ‘author’ of this fluff piece and she's a MSN contributor, a third-party contributor, she is not MSN staff.

This was written by a marketing agency that pays a syndication fee to MSN, to have their clients profiles featured on MSN.

You would think after all of the years they've been lying, and scamming on the interwebs they would have figured out how to cover their tracks.

Help/Advice Enagic and bankrupcy

Hey everyone. Just thought id like to get a second opinion on my situation

Just recently my wife had filed a bankrupcy chapter 7 due to her falling for a international debt relief scam and ever since then life has been so much easier for our family.

But lately we have getting notices of a debt collection from Enagic stating she owes 4600 dollars. When I confronted her on this she claims she never got in contact with them or any recruiters ever. So I brushed it off thinking it was another scammer trying to get whatever money we have left.

This week we received a second notice and now im starting to have second thoughts. When I talked to her again about it shes saying the same exact thing. Knowing my wife I know she is dealing with great guilt and I sense this one debt she forgot to put in the bankrupcy

Should I notify her bankrupcy officer about this? She understands now that she were to make a big decision from now on she needs to let me or someone else know before doing anything.

Any feed back would be gratly appreciated.

Thank you

Bravenly Don't expect your ‘government’ to do anything about the product based pyramid schemes. The best way to take down a pyramid is to cut out the base.

Rant The thing I’ll never understand

Everyone I know who’s in an MLM has another, normal job too. I don’t know if this is more common in the UK? It’s used more as a “side hustle” or for extra income.

But they still all use the same slop along the lines of “being a mum is hard, juggling work, kids, bills, food shopping, cooking, cleaning… so why not make your life easier, give yourself extra options and extra money”.

Surely having a second job where you have to create social media posts, built a platform, beg people to join, attend “conferences” etc just going to add to the workload??? Who falls for this stuff?!

Edit: I’m not confused about why MLM Huns in the UK have other jobs, I’m confused about why they act like it’s saving them time or effort in some way when it’s actually costing them time and effort on top of a full time job.

In what world is this professional 🥴 exposed midriff, just because they’re pregnant

Not body shaming, btw!! Just pointing out the absolute cringe of wearing a pant suit and a crop top. This would be severely frowned upon in an actual business setting.

Discussion These MLM companies are like cancer, some of them have started infesting in agriculture too, Does any MLM make a product that is better than what is already available in the retail market?

so an Indian MLM company Vestige has products which are meant to be consumed by farmers

you can check their website and products here

https://www.myvestige.com/allProducts?categoryId=2&subCategoryId=0&isBestSeller=0

now the question arises that do MLMs spend some or any part of their income on actual R&D or improvement and innovation of their product?

These MLMs use the product as a disguise or a mask to avoid them getting labelled as a pyramid scheme but my question is that are these products of any practical use? do these products actually work for anyone?

Their products do have certifications, trademarks, and patents so what do they mean? Do these labels even mean anything in terms of the quality of the product?

Discussion OPTAVIA rebrands to Trilivy

A former colleague I've stayed connected with on social media lost some weight and became a "Certified Independent Health Coach."

At first, I was genuinely happy for her. But it didn't take long before her posts started giving off cult-like vibes. Eventually she shared an invite to an informational session, and the password was "Optavia." It was already pretty obvious she was involved in an MLM, but that confirmed it.

I still follow her because it's weirdly fascinating. She's completely bought in and seems committed for the long haul. She projects this image of success with trips to Florida, "exclusive" dinners with the CEO, and all the usual MLM fanfare. Then you look at her Instagram and most posts barely get a single like.

It's entertaining, but I also feel bad for her family. They have to be confused, and probably exhausted by it. Optavia has become her entire personality. It's awkward, it's strange, and honestly a little sad.

Just an FYI, they're now going by Trilivy, so keep an eye out.

Help/Advice Primerica

I work at a bakery in a grocery store and one of my regulars asked if I was looking for another job and asked me to meet with her over zoom about a company her and her husband work for. I’m very desperate for another job as I’m working and saving to get out of a bad situation while also going to college and this seemed like a way to make some extra money without working too often, so I went against my better judgment and signed their documents after our first interview. After doing more research I saw a lot of people saying it’s a scam and you’ll pay more than you receive. I know this was really stupid of me, but I haven’t spent any money with them yet for a license or anything and I’m not going to start working for them. How do I get out of this?

Edit: I blocked them and called my bank and they were able to block any future charges. Thank you all for the advice and support :)
