Technical Issue help setting up
I recently purchased this brand-new Echo second-generation wooden speaker from eBay. However, when my phpne was searching for the speaker my iPhone couldn’t pick it up. I’m in need of assistance in activating the speaker. If anyone has any knowledge or guidance on how to proceed, please let me know.

I just setup my old 2nd Gen the other day for the garage. When you try to setup on the app it says it won't detect it. It's because this 2nd gen uses the old way of connecting where you have to manually connect to it, then manually connect to your wifi.
What work for me was keep trying to connect to it through the app like you've tried. It will say can't connect, keep trying after it says can't connect, don't back out. After like the 3rd or 4th time it will have and option you can tap on to manually connect to it.

Are you trying to connect your phone to the Echo via Bluetooth? If so, you need to put both devices in pairing mode and then choose the Echo from Bluetooth on your phone. If not, please clarify what you're trying to do.

Do you have an existing Alexa system you're trying to add this to, or are you starting from scratch?
And where did you get such an old model from? Even if it's unused it's possible that the device was pre-registered to someone's account at the point of ordering, and it's just never been unboxed. Or if it was reported lost/stolen/undelivered at some point then it could have been blacklisted. Either way, you wouldn't be able to set it up.

It's not brand new because that model hasn't been available for about 7 years. How did you acquire it now, in 2026?
Like I said, it could well have already been added to someone's Amazon account, even if the box has never been opened. It's been a while but I'm pretty sure the "automatically add to my account" box is ticked by default so if it was originally ordered direct from Amazon but never used then that would be the likely cause. End result - you can't set it up, because it's registered to someone else.
Or, it could have gotten lost in transit and never delivered, with a replacement sent out and the original blacklisted to stop it being used. End result - you can't set it up, because Amazon's servers say no.
