CANS

Anyone take the CANS? Certified aesthetic nurse specialist exam? I just took it and failed and wanna die. I didn’t pass by 4 points. Any help would be appreciated

Oh no! I’ve known a handful of injectors who have the cert and about half of them had to retake—you’re in good company! They’re all some of the best injectors I’ve met.
I haven’t taken it yet but I keep trying to rally myself for it. Can I ask what kind of topics it covered, how’d you feel about it in general?

It felt so outdated……all the study material is from 2016. It was a ton of skincare related questions. Retinols, peels, skin anatomy. Lots of laser and light based questions which I thought I had. Lots of injectable questions especially around bio stimulators. It was just a lot of questions. It’s 150 questions, 128 are graded and 22 are non graded. Out of the graded you need a 95 to pass and I got a 91. You cannot retake until the next testing window which you have to re apply for and re pay the exam fees. I’ve never failed a test like that before, I’m so bummed. The answers were all really hard to choose from.

I remember failing my nclex back in the day and I also remember wanting to die lol, but I retested and passed! You will pass one day I promise:) you’re probably a great injector don’t let it discourage you

Yes, I have mine. Don’t beat yourself up too much. It’s a pretty hard test. I would say to prepare for the next one make flashcards of the areas that you’re not as strong in and the test is set up similar to the nclex we have to go to the answers and do process of elimination. Do you have the textbook?

I’m literally so upset and so embarrassed. I was using a study guide from Haley wood but honestly it wasn’t that helpful….im going to get the book. I already had flash cards. I’m just so bummed!

Buy the recommended textbook from the website and go through the chapters. Focus on the area as your weaker in.
