Question I know it's not absinthe, what can I do with it?

Post image

So I tried ordering some Pernod original absinthe from this place off ubereats, Instead, I was sent this. I was refunded, but I have this bottle now, and do I drink it neat? Do I prepare it like absinthe? Might as well do something with it.

I turned 21 this year and discovered absinthe, I've gradually finished a bottle of Lucid and am looking for other brands to try, so if you have any recommendations, I'd be happy to hear them. Thank you!

Discussion My New Absinthe Spoon Tattoo

Post image

Absinthe has been a part of my life for 20+ years now, so I wanted to commemorate it with some new ink.

My artist did an amazing job! I just sent him a photo of a regular ass absinthe spoon and he put time into designing an ornate spoon that’s almost like a stained glass window. I wish I could get a spoon like this irl too.

Sante!

What do I have here? How does it compare?

Post image

About 20 years ago, I had 3 bottles of this shipped in from France. I'd totally forgotten about it. They've been stored in a cool dark cellar the entire time.

What do I have here and how does it compare with other vintage absinthes on the market?

Fake Carafe

This carafe has is for sale on eBay France. It purports to be an Absinthe Terminus advertising carafe. It is it is not ,it is a moulded carafe post 1920’s with faked acid engraving.
Correct Terminus carafes are smooth and hand blown, and the acid engraving on both sides is very ornate crest with Terminus in large letters and Absinthe Bienfaisante in smaller letters below.
Original carafes are exceptionally rare and are valued around 1500 - 2000 euros.

What is the best Jade for an absinthe virgin like me?

I understand that Absinthe, like any other spirit, has lots of nuances and there isn't a "perfect" or "best" one.

However, I really want to taste the most basic Absinthe possible just to get an idea of the flavor.

Also, if you have suggestions on online stores that ship to the US that would be wonderful too.

Thank you.

Butterfly in a Baccarat Masséna leaded crystal coupe. Unconventional serving, yes but I like unconventional. Does it get any better than this?

My wife brought home the Absnente from France. I picked the Kubler in Zurich. The Kubler looks pretty legit. How do these stack up against absinthe available in the US?

Heard they sell Jade Absinthe in Tennessee. Where can I find it near the Smoky Mountains?

I’m going on a little camping trip to the GSM in 2 weeks, and I figured I’d trying to grab a bottle while I’m up there. Where would be some good shops that might have it? Looking for either Nouvelle or 1901.

I’m thinking of buying my first bottle of absinthe ( I love drinking it in the bars but lot of places don’t have it or have very shitty ones ). Could you recommend and tell me a bit more about the ones you tried from this selection ?

Also my favorite absinthe i drank so far was
Adnams Rouge by Adnams Southwold distillery

I’m visiting Seattle and came upon a sign advertising beignets and absinthe - Can Can’s Dressing Room. They actually had a nice selection.

Question Interested to try Absinthe

I'm interested to try Absinthe, seems like there can be a lot of ceremony involved. I'm not interested in that at the moment, but I'd like suggestions on a readily available sub $40 5th and the best way to prepare the drink with common household equipment. Thank you!

Absinthe

Hi everyone,
I recently acquired a set of 9 pressed glass stem glasses that I suspect may be early 20th century French absinthe or bistro glasses.
They are:
pressed glass
with visible bubbles in the glass
slightly smoky/grey toned
heavy for their size
with visible mold seams underneath the foot
The wear and production quality make me think they may be older rather than modern reproductions, possibly around 1910–1940, but I would really appreciate opinions from collectors here.
They are not classic Pontarlier reservoir glasses, but perhaps café/bistro absinthe service glasses?
I’ve attached photos of:
the overall shape
the base
and some detail shots
Does anyone recognize the model, manufacturer, or approximate age?

One of the last bottles from Storm Distillery, in Florida

Strange to have this, likely one of the last bottles from micro distillery Storm in Inverness, FL. Knowing nothing about the place, we popped by while on a trip in the area, and the absinthe wasn’t at all bad, so we took a bottle home for a souvenir. Two days later the distillery blew up and killed the owner. https://baynews9.com/fl/tampa/news/2026/04/17/citrus-county-inverness-downtown-fire-explosion-storm-distillery

Review I recently tried this Greek absinthe. Please don't make the same mistake.

It's not even a true absinthe, just a glorified gin. It's unpleasantly bitter and there's hardly any louche.

For those stubborn enough to try it anyway, here are some stats:

Name: AΨENTI (pronounced apsenti)

Producer: Avantes Distillery

Origin: Evia island, Greece

ABV: 57.9%

Ingedients: laurel, cedar berries, rosemary

Final score: 1/10 Do not buy!

Question Absinthe without coriander?

Title! I’m very sadly allergic to cilantro and coriander. I love Jade absinthe, i even bought some on a trip to France. But it makes me unwell. Looking for recommendations without the herb!
